Dish 1 Up Satellite T Scam to sell Direct TV Cleveland, Ohio |
18th of Nov, 2010 by User370514 |
After seeing other reports on Dish 1Up Satellite Tv, being an X employee, I felt compelled to back up other's who have worked there and exposed their scam
I worked for Dish 1 Up Satellite almost 2 years ago. I thought for sure they would be out of business by now, but they're not.
This company gets existing customers or new customers for Dish TV. What they do is use a phone number that is one digit off (last I know of) for anyone trying to call Dish TV.
As soon as you call, one of their representatives gets on the phone and does everything in their power to make sure they don't tell you that you have reached a distributor of Direct TV.
I caught onto this scam during my training period. But, needing a job badly, I hung in there - I had no choice until I found another job.
During training they brought the assistant manager in to take an actual phone call from somebody calling to get their Dish TV satellite fixed. This woman was elderly, early 70s in age. This manager took complete advantage of her and before she knew it, she was being sent a whole set up for Direct TV - NOT Dish TV. We (the training class) heard the whole two way conversation. All she wanted was her Dish TV satellite serviced. The manager hung up the phone and was chuckling over what an easy sale that was. The three managers I knew of were all in their 20s, and they KNEW I was on to them and how that place operated. I was questioning absolutely everything.
After training, I was put on the incoming phone calls. The managers and trainers would listen into our conversations to make sure we were using all the right rebuttals etc...Well, this one woman, a younger woman called me and when she down right said "NO, I did NOT" have her permission to run a credit check- the trainer, who was sitting by my side, went ahead and ran it anyway without her knowledge or consent. I lost the sale and didn't care. Consumers might want to know that even if you don't give your social security number to someone, that if you have lived somewhere for over a year you can get a credit report on them. Legally, you are suppose to get their consent though. After we hung up, the trainer called me "stupid" and after I raised hell about it, I was fired the next day. I had questioned the law about running credit reports and that isn't in the "script" of how that place operates. So, that woman will see that Dish 1UP Satellite ran a credit check on her - should she ever see her credit report - and technically I would be the one she could come back on as she didn't know the trainer was sitting right there and HE hit the "send" key to send her info into the credit agency.
Dish 1UP satellite does everything in their power to make sure you aren't even aware you dialed the wrong number when you were trying to reach Dish Satellite.
Some of their employee's have been there for quite some time, and the one's who sell are the fast talkers, run credit checks without your knoweldge, and have flat out lied to get the sale. This company could care less - just get the sale!
I worked there less then two weeks when I was fired. I did not make one single sale, as I answered the incoming customer's questions honestly, and followed the laws about credit checks etc...
Actually, I should e-mail Dish TV themselves and tell them I'd testify for them.
Dish1UP Satellite is NOT Dish Satellite TV. They are distributors of DIRECT TV.
The one I worked at in downtown Cleveland was in a mostly unoccupied brick building. No signs displaying the name of the company outside at all.
