DirecTV fraudulently turned my service back on without my knowledge after I terminated service Englewood, Colorado

I had been with DirecTv for 3 years when I decided to cancel my service and switch to Comcast. They gave me a very hard time and told me that they would turn my service off for six months and then they would contact me before it would be turned back on. So I agreed and called them back a few months later to try and terminate my service again. This time I stood my ground and told them to cancel my service. I was told that is was canceled.
A few months later I received a postcard from DirecTv thanking me for having my service turned on. I called them yet again and was told that they just send a postcard out to get us to call so they can try and get us to come back to them. I was told that my service had NOT been turned back on and since I was now with Comcast, there was no other way to know if they had turned it back on.
Then I received a bill for a month's service. So I called them again and went off on them and was told that it would be taken care of. Now, 4 years later, we are moving to another state where our cable providers are limited, so we decided to go back to direcTv. We were scheduled to have our service turned on Friday. They took money out of our bank account for the install, and when we called to confirm the installation, we were told that they would not turn it on or refund the money for the install because we owe them $479!
Wow, that's amazing considering we were paid up when we attempted to disconnect our service!
Tivo tried to pull the same con so I wrote down names and the times that I called to cancel the service (all 3 times) and they still tried to charge me until I contacted the BBB.
Apparently, I'm not the only person they have pulled this scam on. Just do an internet search on DirecTv and Tivo. I don't know how they can get away with this.
