Diamond Resorts International Points issues and Maintenance Fee Rising Costs Las Vegas, Nevada |
31st of Dec, 2011 by User979400 |
Upon making our purchase from Diamond Resorts my wife and I were told that by owning the Kaanapali Beach Club in Maui, HI that we could easily trade for anywhere in the world we wish to go. Well number one, our points wont even buy a week at our own resort, as we were told they would and owning in Hawaii doesn't make it any easier to trade for anywhere else in the world. More sales B.S. When we opened our maintenance fee assesment for 2012 we find that it has gone up about 40% over what we where told they would be for our resort. Apparently some other resort in their system needed some repairs and upgrades that we have no ownership in. Is there anyone out there that is similiarly angry about this and does anyone know if we can band together some way to fight this scam? Heck, next year it will most likely be another 40%. You can rent a week in Maui for less than what they are charging for maintenance fees. My wife and I are thinking of just stopping the payment of our annual fee but our credit would surely take a hit. I am at the point that I almost don't care anymore. But I don't want to see these S.O.B.'s win either. Can anyone help? |

Buyers beware of Diamond Resorts International when considering purchasing a timeshare or points in their Club. We have been owners at the Point at Poipu in Kauai for many years and ever since Diamond Resorts International (DRI) took over management our maintenance fees have sky rocketed. Your extremely large assessment for 2012 is directly linked to the Point at Poipu water intrusion problem. We have been assessed approximately $6, 000 per week owned in addition to our maintenance fees which are currently lingering around $1, 500 per week. There are many other problems including the quality of maintenance during Diamond's management, misrepresentation of facts when selling points after knowing about the water intrusion problem, stacking the Board of Directors with DRI employees and then they don't recuse themselves when voting on issues that affect DRI’s bottom line, refusing to share an owners list to those wanting to run for the Board of Directors in violation of Hawaii State Law. I could go one and on. A group of owners, both deeded and those in the Hawaii Collection, have banded together to confront DRI about their practices. Please go to www.poipuowners.org and join us.
