The St. George Utah Deseret Industries operates unethically. Its employees are guilty of price gouging and corruption. Some employees have been overheard in conversation, recently, discussing affixing an over- inflated price to newly donated merchandise, prior to a quick sale, in order to hopefully drive away a waiting customer, so that an employee could acquire the item, rather than the waiting customer. This conversation was held loudly and within earshot of that waiting customer and her husband and numerous other customers nearby. This situation has happened on more than one occasion to this customer. In addition, this customer has purchased items for pick up, driven around to the back to pick up the already purchased item, only to find that the item already paid for is gone. Stolen. The sold tag had been removed from the item and the item had been re-sold, to someone else and had already been removed from the premises by the second purchaser, because once it had been purchased by this customer, it had not been immediately removed from the sales floor, by the floor salespeople, as the customer had been told/promised it would be, by those same salespeople. The customer then was without her property and had only a lame apology, to show for the money she'd paid. The customer was only given a full refund of monies paid, AFTER having to DEMAND said refund. This too has happened on numerous occasions. Also, this store discards and destroys donations that can be sold, used, rehabilitated, etc., too. Rather than making an effort at rehabbing donations that need a little work, this store simply destroys them. Wasting perfectly usable items and wasting precious resources. It is this customer's opinion that should anyone choose to patronize this store they should pay attention to the old adage and "Buyer Beware". |
