Dell My Brothers B-day Present was supposed to be delivered in August. It is now November. Round Rock, Texas
6th of Sep, 2011 by User480255
So I decided to get my brother a sweet gaming headset for his birthday in late August. I usually spend about $30, but I knew this headset for gaming would really make him happy (even though it was almost $100). I price shop online and find that dell is the cheapest for this model I was looking for (Steelseries). I use a prepaid gift card I had recieved as a present to pay for this. I submitted the information and was sent to the confirmation page. Now I play the waiting game. About two weeks later, now September, I call asking where the item is. I am told it is "Backordered" and hasn't been shipped out yet. Here is the first strike. They could have at least contacted me by e-mail or phone to let me know the item isn't going to arrive when it said it would. Now I have nothing for my brothers birthday to give him. Luckily he is easygoing and didn't mind. I ask to have the package shipped to Boston (since he is now back at college and it's not my fault they didn't get their product to me when they said they would. I shouldnt have to pay to ship it to Boston becaue they gave me a wrong delivery date. They refuse to change the address, and after much arguing he agrees to give me a $15 rebate code. We hang up. It is now close to October, and I call again asking where the headset is. I am beyond pissed, it missed his birthday, it is over a month late, and I am told it is still backordered. I ask when it is actually coming in, as I am now suspicious that they may not be getting these in stock again. I am assured by the Indian customer service rep (go dell...) who has no clue what he is talking about, that it will be sent out soon. November rolls around... I call again saying to cancel the order, and I will look elsewhere for this. To my suprize I am told that my order has ALLREADY been cancelled...last month!! I ask about a refund and how I will be credited for this. They say that no charge has been made yet since it did not get shipped out (they charge you when the item goes out apparently), which I can't tell being that I used a prepaid gift card, and that there is nothing to reimburse. This is great, they have people telling me it is coming in, when it ISNT. Now they cancel my order months later and don't even get in contact with me to tell me this. My prepaid giftcard is long gone being that I had no reason to keep it since I thought it was depleted. So I am out the money, the on-time birthday gift, the three months of wondering when this package is coming in, and most importantly, respect for a top tier company in my mind which I thought was above this. (I should have known they don't give a sh!t about their customers when they moved their customer service to freakin India where it takes 20x the time to get a situation resolved, or it doesn't at all.) My next computer was going to be dell, but now I would rather build it from scratch than give them a cent.
