Debt Recovery Solutions Victim of Fraud, completely different name on the account I was harrassed over. Westbury, New York |

I want to start off by saying that someone needs to stop this company from what they are doing to innocent victims of fraud. A couple of years back I requested an annual copy of my credit report, which is when I first noticed the verizon account under the name Jacqueline Garcia (this is not even close to what my name is - first or last name). I called verizon to dispute it, they informed me that I had to send in a copy of my license and social security card. My father told me not to do this, as it was too phishy, so I left it alone for a while not knowing how else to get this resolved. Recently, I tried to apply for a mortgage. This fraud on my credit report is killing me - so I call verizon back. They told me they sold the account to Debt Recovery solutions and I needed to contact them directly to fix it. I called this company. I have never been talked to so rudely, or treated so unfairly by a company in my entire life. They proceeded to tell me that since Jacqueline Garcia shows as an alias on my report they will not be able to remove it. I told them this was not me, not my alias, and the only reason it showed that way is because of this incorrect account. I also explained that I had just graduated from high school when the account had been opened - they laughed and ridiculed me stating that I definitely had a cellphone when I was highschool - I was furious. I told them that the account was a landline opened in a completely different city than where I lived at that time and I definitely did not have a landline there at 18 years of age. They then said that it was probably a family member that stole my identity and I could believe what I wanted. After getting no where with Debt Recovery Solutions, I tried calling Experian over and over again. I finally was able to speak to a live person and they told me that they couldn't help me, that debt recovery solutions said the account was valid and that was that. I could have cried at this point out of frustration. I called Debt Recover back. After several phone calls back and forth, speaking to a different horrible person each time, one then told me to send in W-2's and a notarized letter and they would remove it. Well, that was over a month ago and the account and name are both still there, so I called back. They said they would send me a letter stating that it was closed. Great. I received the letter - It was addressed to Jacqueline Garcia. Are you kidding me??? I called them back - they said since the name on the account was such that they can't send the letter with my actual name on it and that the name Jacqueline Garcia must remain on my credit report as my alias. What am I supposed to do now? As with every other phone call to them, I got no where yet again, told me I had to just wait, and they hung up. It is not fair for me to have to have a Fraudulent name on my credit report as my alias for the rest of my life because of someone else's screw up, and not only that, but when am I going to be able to purchase my first home? When will this go away? No one at that company will even give me a straight answer. At my wits end... |
