Cyberpower PC
Cyberpower PC PC misconfigured and put together sloppy Bladwin Park, California
10th of Jan, 2011 by User199317
I purchased a system from them in May, 2010. I've had nothing but problems. The work indicates very sloppy procedures and quite frankly it shows that they do not know what they are doing, or how to send computers that work properly to people.

First, when I ordered the system I asked for foam padding to dampen the noise coming from the case. They put it in, but it was pressed up against the video card fan, causing the fan to not run. They system kept tripping overheating alarms and the video card would go offline until I ripped the bottom padding out. That should never happen.

Second, I asked for multiple hard drives and they put them into a RAID configuration (something that sits between the hard drives and the system to give you redundant data), however whenever I had problems with the system I could not troubleshoot because they never sent the right drivers (low level programs that detect and initialize HW). That means that after I had some of the other problems with the system, I couldn't run the troubleshooting tools for Windows. They never sent me anything like that, and I really don't know how they got Windows on there in the first place.

Third, they offer a wide array of choices, but they do nothing to determine whether different options are compatible. I have had numerous issues with an expansion USB card that hangs or resets the computer if you plug certain devices into it. Additionally, if you plug certain devices in elsewhere, it also does really weird things. I don't think that they do any type of checks to see if certain things don't go together, even though they logically should.

Fourth, the inside of the case is a mess of wires and there is no expansion room. I have a case with 7 HD bays and the insides are such a mess it took me 2 hours to even try and get a third hard drive in there. It wasn't neat or professionally done at all.

I am a computer person but not a hard core hardware hacker. But I know bad work when I see it. This was definitely bad work. I do know enough to make it work, and as long as I don't plug certain devices in certain ports, and have completely rebuilt parts of it, it works. Which is better than shipping it back to CA and not being with my work computer.

Don't consider them. They really are a chop shop.
