Was having a wonderful time at the jersey shore when we as a family decided to have dinner at the Crab Trap restaurant in Somers Point. My wife ordered a bowl of seafood bisque and much to her horror she found a baby mouse in her soup. We brought this to the attention of a manager and a few minutes later I was asked to come to a back room. There I was introduced to the owner jack Wallace. He apologized for the incident and then segwayed into begging me to keep this a secret. He offered to pay for our dinner and I accepted. He's escorted me back back to my table where I explained our agreement to my wife. To say the least she had lost your appetite and asked for the both of us to be shown the kitchen to talk to the chef. Mr. Wallace reluctantly agreed. My wife and I were shown into the kitchen and we went to talk to the chef. My wife was showing where the soup is prepared where she noticed a hole in the roof where a mouse could easily fall down from. She then pointed out the half dozen or so exposed wires in the kitchen, and then asked the chef if he thought this was a safe and sanitary work environment. She pointed out the hole again and turn to Mr. Wallace and ask him how his kitchen ever passed code with exposed wires and mice falling into food. At this point Mr. Jack Wallace exploded and told us we needed to leave his kitchen at once. My wife protested but to no avail. She said she was going to report him code violations and his response was " that would be the biggest mistake you would ever make, I am one of those well respected and powerful man in this county and if you cross me you will pay. My wife and I turned around grabbed our family and left. My wife has full intention of filing a report though from what she has heard he is well connected with the local code word which is why he was allowed to keep his kitchen in such disrepair. To say the least I was disgusted by the incident and could not believe Mr. Wallace's behavior in response to our complaint. I thought it was my duty to let everybody know what kind of establishment the Crab Trap is and what kind of man Mr. Wallace is. |
