Conman Kevin Conway Conway's Vintage Treasures http://www.cvtreasures.com Forger of Autographs Signatures Criminal Liar Plainville, Massachusetts
28th of Sep, 2011 by User497911
Conman Kevin Conway purchases items for a cheap price on Ebay and then makes up a false story with a COA. His user name on Ebay is just_vintage and I am in the midst of a lawsuit with him as he sells forged items.Notice how he keeps his purchases private on Ebay. That is a major warning sign of a crook. What has he got to hide? What is the goal of a forger of autographs? Basically they try to forge a signature and make their creation resemble an original. Some forgers are not happy with trying to duplicate a simple signature on a souvenir item such as a baseball, photograph or first day cover. Many of these forgeries eventually get Certificates of Authenticity from the companies who claim they authenticate autographs. One of the reasons for this, you simply have to look at who is doing the authenticating. Many of the names are not recognizable. Autograph authenticating has become a big business and it’s all about money! The autograph market is flooded with forged autographs with COA’s stating they are genuine. This recent phenomenon of non genuine autographs being accompanied with COA’s stating the item is genuine is now an epidemic and Conway's Store is a leader of this trend. Some forgers get very greedy and are not happy making a few hundred dollars for one of their creations. Usually the greedier they get the sloppier they get. For example, Kevin Conway decided he wanted to create a treasure that would sell for over $100,000. Instead of using his creative mind, Conway went to Charles Hamilton’s book American Signatures, Volume one and chose to duplicate, word for word, including corrections, a John Hancock letter. A fabulous content letter stating: “I do certify that John Paul Jones was duly commissioned and appointed to command the armed Sloop called the Providence and that this Sloop is now employed in the service of the thirteen United States of North America witness my hand October 29th 1776 John Hancock.” Such a high profile item, illustrated in a major autograph reference book was able to make it into our market because of a few unconscious persons in this industry. Conway's Vintage Treasures actually sold this item to me in excess of $100,000. I decided to put the item up for sale. This very high end item was easily identified as a forgery by many professionals when the collector decided to offer this item for sale. Some of the dealers and auction houses who identified this as a forgery was Joe Maddalena and Brian Chanes of Profiles in History, Paul Richards, Superior Galleries, Ira & Larry Goldberg Coins & Collectibles, The History Buff and a few others. One autograph professional stated: “Don’t know how this letter got this far, anyone doing the slightest bit of research could see this was copied out of Charles Hamilton’s book!” So now you know my story.Conway refuses to refund my money and I am pressing charges with the State Attorney General along with the civil suit.

Kevin Conway Vintage Treasures is not a registered UACC dealer. Never never buy anything from any seller who uses the PRIVATE option (Feedback or bidding) on Ebay!

There is not one single good reason why Vintage Treasures Kevin Conway would use these PRIVATE options, the UACC have banned it, and so should eBay. Don’t fall for their old tosh about protecting your privacy, it’s their privacy they are concerned with not yours! Fall for this one, and the chances are 100 to 1 that you will be buying fakes, forgeries or just plain rubbish. His user name on ebay is just_vintage and he has been suspended and is no longer allowed to sell autographs. Ebay does allow him to purchase!

The PRIVATE bidding option prevents you (the buyer) from finding out what they (the seller) has previously sold or bought, it prevents other eBay members from warning you about their fakes or scams, and worst of all, it allows the seller to bid against you without you knowing! (yes that’s right, a seller using the PRIVATE auction option is able to bid on their own auctions and push up the final price without you knowing! Now if that is not cheating, I don’t know what is). You will often find these buyers and sellers have changed the ID many times too, just click on ID History to check. They change their name normally because they have had some bad press somewhere and so change it to try and hide.

Avoid sellers like Kevin Conway Vintage Treasures who make excessive claims as to where they obtain their stock from etc. ‘I have worked in the music business for 30 years’ ‘item comes with an impeccable references from someone in the film industry’ ‘I buy my items from UACC dealers and other registered sources’ (the UACC do not allow anyone to make this claim unless they state EXACTLY who they purchased from, or they will be VERO'd off !) etc etc. Unless you already have considerable experience, then only buy from dealers who are actually members of the UACC (and can prove it), and be careful, anyone can join the UACC, it is after all a club for autograph collectors. Only Registered Dealers have been members for 3 years or more, and have proved they know what they are talking about, they have provided both references from other known dealers, and their stock has been checked on a regular basis by other dealers. There are very few genuine dealers who are not UACC members, but there are many unscrupulous dealers who make the claim that being a member of the UACC proves nothing and so refuse to join. The truth is that most of these 'sellers' have been refused membership and have already been thrown out! Kevin Conway Vintage Treasures is one of the aforementioned conmen.

Forget about any COA that Kevin Conway Vintage Treasures offers to you-- an item is either real or its fake, and no amount of classy COA with triple holograms, a wax seal, fancy ribbon, DNA, or nice paper will make a poor fake into a genuine bargain. A COA is only as good as the seller is honest, and if the seller is a fraud, then your COA is no more useful than a used piece of toilet tissue!

This story is 100% Fictional. Conway's never had, owned or ever sold a "$100, 000 treasure". And, Conway’s has Never owned or sold a John Hancock autograph. This story is entirely fabricated. The guy who posted this is a forger that was called out on an autograph forum and this is his retaliation. He has gone through the internet looking for these “ripoff report” sites and wrote the exact same slander. If you have any questions on Conway's visit him at www.cvtreasures.com

He also tried to make the same slanderous remarks in the Autograph Live forum, for which he was banned.

He is one of the most respected and reputable autograph dealers in the country.

The person is an autograph forger who was identified and “called out” on an autograph forum, and this is his retaliation. Conway’s has NEVER owned or sold a “$100, 000 treasure”. Conway’s has NEVER owned or sold a “John Hancock letter”. The method he mentions of forging from a Hamilton book, certainly reveals the details of his Forgery business.

If you would like proof this is a 100% fictional posting contact Conway’s Vintage Treasures and he will provide the REAL story and motives behind this person’s malicious campaign. But, when you expose criminal activity like this person, such retaliation is expected.

The guy who keeps posting these reports is doing so, under phony names. You can actually type Conway’s Vintage Treasures in Google and you will find he has made multiple of this “copied and pasted” fabricated, slanderous posting under various names he took off the autograph forum. I purchased 2 items from cvtreasures.com one being a signed poster of Snoopy by Charles Schulz . When it arrived it was nothing like the one depicted; the other being a signed photo of Judy Garland. I took both to Paul Fraser of Paul Frasers Collectibles and formerly Frasers Auctions he confirmed that after a thorough inspection they are both forgeries so I contacted Conway’s Vintage Treaures by email to report my findings and to request a refund as they boast a lifetime money back guarantee. After a few days they replied stating they would issue a full refund but that was 2 months ago and they are now ignoring my emails. I have informed the FBI via their website. That is why there is no phone number or real address– just a Post Office box.

Barbara Knowlton does NOT EXIST. No such person. It is actually the Author of this report as he continues to post on th4ese sites under various anonymous, fictitious names. He posted the EXACT SAME identical paragraph on another one of these complaint websites under the names "Len" and "Gus" are one and the same, the author of this post, .

The transactions he mentions above NEVER ever took place. And the author could never produce a proof of purchase of these items. He just looks at cvtreasures and finds an item that sold, than claims he bought it, which never did...The author is a notorious forger of autographs who was “outed” on an autograph forum for selling forgeries and he just keeps attacking this very reputable dealer cvtreasures.com. The author of this fabricated report actually made TWO “crank” phone calls to cvtreasures.com on Xmas Eve but of course as any criminal or forger was too coward to speak so he hung up… You can read the full story of this fraud here:
