Dishonest Business Practices/ Bait and Switch |
13th of Aug, 2011 by Amy A |
A sales rep called our business and told our manager that many hotels were using a product called "Green Gobbler" She told him that she was not sure if it was something that she was interested in. He talked her into trying a sample. The sample was billed to us at $131.00 with shipping and handling. This company continued to send out gallons of this product on a monthly basis. When our company manager would call about recieving the shipment, she was told that it was part of her original order. (she thought she was just trying it). She was told that the shipping agent could not deliver it in one shipment and that it had to be divided up in increments. Later, she was told that one of the shipments was damaged and that there was a pending insurance claim and they were sending a replacement for the damaged shipment. Every time she called after recieving another shipment, she would ask, Is this our last shipment?" She would be told, yes this is the last shipment. She was not ordering this product to begin with. She was under the impression that this was part of her original "try it" order. She did not authorize, 5 shipments. It turns out that each shipment is billed at 500 dollars plus shipping and handling. Sadly, the accountant has paid several of the almost $600.00 invoices. Our company is sitting on gallons of Green Gobbler that we will probably never use. This try a sample sceme has now cost the company $3000.00. This company will not take any of the product back and they are harrassing us for the final $587.00 invoice that will not be paid by our company. Our attorney tells us that in our State, if a company ships a product to us that was not ordered, we do not have to pay for it and can keep it. We really would like to return the many gallons of Green Gobbler for a refund. I really believe that it is ironic that the product is called "Green Gobbler" because that is what exactly this scamming company did, they Gobbled our Green! BEWARE, BEWARE
If for some reason, this company claims that this is slander, I will be happy to provide copies of the paid invoices and pictures of the gallons of Green Gobbler. I also recorded the last phone conversation with the billing supervisor named "Jessica." In this conversation, I was trying to negotiate a return of the product and simply told her that I was unhappy because our company had been hoodwinked. She said that I was trying to hoodwink them by not paying the final invoice. |
