Scammers and Poor Customer service |

I was also scammed by this company. I signed up with a friend of mine and thought I was helping him out plus I would be able to have wireless service. Well, if you are thinking about this service- don' do it!! These people have no idea about customer service. My friend originally signed me up for a fee of $35 per month; at that time I was on SSDI (Disability Income) but at this time, I still had access to my credit cards and I signed up to have them automatically withdraw my payments from my Visa credit card. Well, my medical bills really got out of hand and so did my credit cards and I ended up doing a debt management program which I am currently still doing and I am no longer able to use my credit cards, only my debit card. So me, being the honest customer that I am, I go ahead and go online and change my credit card info to my debit card information. Well, that was a BIG mistake!! Finally, it got to the point where I had to streamline my expenses and so Clearwire was on of the services that I wanted to cancel. I spoke to the customer service rep and he tells me that it's way before my contract is up (didn't even know I had one) and says that if I cancel, he'll have to charge me a restocking fee. I told him that I didn't have that amount in my account that day but could I make partial payments. He told me no, Clearwire doesn't accept partial payments from their customers and that he would have to send my account to collections. I asked him, ok, what is the name of the collection agency so when I get a notice/bill from them I'll know who they are. He told me no, their collection agency is Clearwire. What??? Anyway, I told the rep that I really didn't need the Clearwire any longer because last year my mom bought me a new computer which is wireless and I had Comcast send me my FREE wireless router and I connected it and even have my own wireless spot. They sent me a return shipping label and I shipped the wireless device back to them. All of this was done about April 4, 2011. I just happened to check my bank account onine and I see a debit from Clearwire for $30.33 done on May 25, 2011. I never recieved any prior notification email/letter from Clearwire saying that they were going to do this. They really messed me up; I was overdrawn at my bank of .87 and thankfully a friend loaned me $50 to put into my account to cover the overdraft fee plus whatever bills were going to automatically be paid. I was furious when I called them. I spoke to 2 customer service reps to no avail to see if they would credit my account back. Do you know they had the audacity to tell me that because my account was cancelled they couldn't access anything in my account. Well, somehow they accessed my debit account information after April 4, 2011!!! Another deceptive practice that they do is when they suggest to you that you temporarily suspend your services, they don't tell you this, but that automatically extends your contract. So you could actually have a contract with Clearwire until perpetuity...literally. Needless to say, they never refunded my account for the $30.33 but I did ask them to delete my debit card information from my account since I no longer have access to my account page ever since I cancelled the services. Do yourselves a favor if you do want wireless access: get yourself a wireless computer and then call Comcast/Xfinity to get your FREE wirelss router. They can walk you through it to install it. I did mine. But DON"T EVER get yourself involved with Clearwire; they are SCAMMERS and CONARTISTS and they are not worth the headache!! OBTW, I am writing a complaint letter to the Senior VP of Customer Care, Craig H. Reines and their corporate address is 4400 Carilllon Pt., Kirkland, WA 98033-7353 |
