Clearwire Corporation Clear Clearwire refused to issue a credit after 'free' modem was returned & charged me a cancellation fee where service was unav |

I've been a Clearwire customer for many years.Even though I've suffered through many times when internet service was too slow to use or unavailable I never thought they would rip me off .Obviously they've stooped to a new low.I was getting service at one location in Winston Salem NC and decided to add service at another location 25 miles away. That was my first mistake.I purchased a used modem on eBay to see if the service was available first. When I received the modem it was activated. For some unknown reason it worked for a while then mysteriously began having connection dropped issues. It would allow to get online for about 3 to 5 minutes then it would drop the connection.Their tech support said they could not determine the cause.I was paying for service I was not getting. They made no attempt to contact me to try & resolve the problem so I continued to call them sometimes spending hours at a time on the phone with Clearwire billing & tech support trying to get the problem fixed.I seriously considered canceling my service at the second location & called Clearwire to speak to them again. This particular representative offered me 2 free modems(why 2?) if I would not cancel their service at the second location. He said it might be the modem. He also offered me 2 months credit off my bill because I had paid for service I did not receive. When I received the 2 free modems I activated them but still had connection problems at the second location.I called Clearwire back and said I wanted to cancel the service at that location.I called when the bill was due.I was told it was too late to stop the payment from coming out of my account but was promised a refund for the prorated amount of time I used it so long as I shipped the free modem back within 30 days.I didn't receive a shipping label so I called back and asked them to email me a shipping label again .This time I got the shipping label and sent the 'free' modem back to Clearwire.I was originally told I would get a refund in 10 days.I called back in 10 days when it wasn't in my account.I was told Clearwire had not received the modem yet and that I would not get a credit until they got it back regardless of what the rep had stated earlier. Then I got debited a cancellation fee.I thought Clearwire had mistakenly charged me for 3 modems again or changed my bill due date but the representative stated it was in fact a cancellation fee because I was no longer using Clearwire at that location. I was shocked.I had purchased a used modem on eBay to avoid a contract with Clearwire.I was month to month.I only accepted the new modem because I was told it was free. I tried to keep Clearwire at that location and when it wouldn't stay connected I cancelled. They are dishonest, deceitful and misleading.I have tried several times to speak to a supervisor about the cancellation fee and month service I was charged after cancelling and both times I've been denied. Can anyone help? |
