Clear ISP Deceptive, lied, misled, overcharged, tricked me into a contract, headstrong, stubborn Internet |

I received a half price voucher in the mail to try out the new clear Internet service for 2 months. I thought it was a pretty good idea to try it out so I called and spoke to a sales person. He told me I would get 2 months of free service with no contract and no installation fee so I agreed and gave him my credit card number for which he took out the charges for the 2 months. Then, even before the month was over I received a bill for full price which was $54 and change. That's $45 plus taxes, etc. I called and spoke to a customer rep explaining that I had already paid for the 2 mos. After speaking for a few minutes he mentioned that I had a 2 year contract. I was appalled because I had explicitly stated that I didn't want to be in any contract from the beginning and the sales person said it was okay. The customer rep said that if I didn't want to be in a contract, I would have to pay $180 for the equipment to which I said, buying the equipment is as bad as being in a contract. So I told him I would finish using the service for the second month and would send the equpment back to them. At the end of the second month, which was April 2011, clear cut off the service. The next day: May 1st 2011I called Clear and reminded them to send me the UPS sticker so I could send them the equipment. They never did, so I called around May 11th and requested it once more. Finally I received it about a week later and sent back the equpment. I keep getting phone calls from clear stating that my account is overdue and I owe for the month of May. I called them and explained that it is impossible for me to owe them for May because they cut off my service on April 30th and I called them on May 1st cancelling my account and requested the return sticker. They then said that there would be a turn off charge to which I said that it was never mentioned. I then suggested they reveiw the monitored calls I made to them and check if they had ever mentioned a turn off charge and also that I said from the beginning I did not wish to be in a contract. After 25 minutes of useless conversation I insisted she put her supervisor on the phone and she was twice as headstrong and ruthless toward me. I told her that for a budding company like Clear, they are very rude and misleading and that I would warn people how deceptive they are. |
