This company Makes replica Ferrari Dino's and is still running and at present have a large sum of my money with no sign of a promised car or returning my funds.
I was told by GORDON AINSLEY I was buying a part built car from a customer who GORDON AINSLEY said was unable to take the car. My experiences of this man now puts this in question.
The car was promised be ready in April /May. Then with out contacting me it moved to June. When I called to see how it was going and subsequently visited (in June) I was told End July. When I got there I found the car no where near complete. No doors, Boot, bonnet, Glass, lights, not sprayed, no wheels,No bumpers, no interior ordered as well as many other issues. Gordon who seemed like a nice guy when I first met him has avoided me since the first set back and now will not take my calls.
I am forced to pass messages through his secretary and even then he still doesn't respond.
He has left me no choice but to file Legal action against the company as I have tried ever other way to make this deal work, even offering to take the car as it stands and have someone else build it. BEWARE BEWARE BEWARE. GORDON AISLEY CAN NOT BE TRUSTED DO NOT HAND OVER ANY MONEY. I even mentioned the negative comments posted on this site once when I was there and he suggested it was a bad customer. I really wish I had spoken to that customer instead. Do not be fooled or you will be sorry. With out doubt he will be on responding and I welcome it.. He will say 'call me' but they are hollow words as he won't speak to me. He will suggest there are two sides as with a previous customer. You just need to read between the lines. This is a small business unable to produce more than 2-3 cars a year, if that the same cars have been there every time I visited.
Ask to speak to a satisfied (unrelated) customer if there is one. I have never come across such a crazy situation. He is letting himself down and a potentially good idea go to waste. His staff are always helpful but without GORDON AINSLEY keeping his word they are left to pick up the pieces. CLASSIC REPLICAS:This is to update the warning above.
I have had no benefit from further negotiations with this company. I have now been in touch with two other customers who have had very similar problems with Classic Replicas (although I am aware of more). We have shared documented information and built up a profile of how this company behaves.
Classic Replicas claims to have been going 9 years on their website. Yet the company has dissolved twice in this period. I was told by a reputable company that this would not be looked on favourably by credit companies.
The part finished car Classic Replicas sold me was owned by another customer who now like myself is forced to take legal action against them to get his money back. He was unaware that his car had been sold and non of his money paid has been returned.
Gordon Ainsby sold this car to me knowing there was still a dispute in regard to it. As the car was not yet registered I did not question ownership. He told me that the previous owner was another person completely & had become ill and this was the reason for Gordon selling the car on. Now ownership of the car itself is in question. Although Gordon has confirmed that the car he offered to sell to me as a complete roadworthy car, is the same one he was building for the other customer who he has taken a large sum of money from. (This was to to an independent body and is documented)
Another customer who picked up his car from Classic Replicas in a part finished state (again due to dispute with Gordon Ainsby) Has informed me that he has had to do a great deal of modifying to make the car road worthy and it is still not on the road because of this. I have only this gentleman's word for this but a pattern is forming and it does not look a healthy one.
Please be very careful before getting in contact with Classic Replicas. Do not buy a part built model from them as it already has several owners!!

I was just about to place an order when I thought I would do a credit check on Gordon Ainsby. I have landed here and I am keen to hear about other peoples experiences. How do I get in touch?

Hi a number of years ago I contacted Classic Replicas and on meeting Gordon, who comes across as a very nice person, I agreed to purchase a completed Replica Dino 246 GTS from him. The length of contract was to be 18 months when I would receive a completed car. A price was agreed and I also agreed to make staged payments. There was not a demo car available so I was unable to drive the car but after listening to Gordon I excepted that it would be o k with his years of experience building cars everything would be fine.
Everything went went at first, I was receiving regular updates and Classic Replicas was receiving regular payments. It went wrong when I visited the workshop to find that the car had not progressed as far as I had been told. The car has not progressed since.
Classic Replicas now insist that the contract was for a part built car and despite the fact that the majority of the agreed payments have been made they consistently refuse to complete the car but have given me several completion dates. They do not produce a build manual so to complete the build would be very time consuming and difficult.
However I understand that the car has now been sold on, without my money being returned, This, unfortunately, is not the only sob story regarding and another website-madabout kitcars - has refused to accept any blogs regarding this company due to the derogatory comments that were being posted |

I am now one year on since I made the mistake of dealing with Gordon Ainsby and his company Classic Replicas 02 Ltd and I still have not had any further progress. In fact I have neither my money back nor have I an option of a car as Gordon Ainsby now feels he has the right to tell me he is not building my car or returning my money. Instead he has offered me the car in a part built state to finish myself. This sounds not to bad I guess you could think but this vehicle offered I have found out belongs to another customer who has paid £14, 000 and received nothing for his money. We both visited the workshop together (The previous customer and owner of the car and myself) We were shown the car which is now wrapped in plastic on top of a container. Mr Ainsby used a fork lift to bring this down to the floor so we could attempt to identify it. Although we were able to establish it was the car owned by the previous customer and the one sold to me the car had no Chassis number that could be found.
We all tried to find it but could not this included Gordon Ainsby himself.
Further action is pending and I will update but if anyone is considering an agreement with this company then I suggest caution!
Carry out a director search on Gordon Ainsby within the credit check. You will find that he has been the director of several companies that no longer do business as well as the one trading as Classic Replicas 02 ltd.
