The water department bills us bimonthly and supposedly reads our water meters then bills us for the usage. This sounds logical right? What would you think if I told you that your meter is not being read at all? That in fact your usage is being estimated and that in the summer months your usage even doubles? Don't believe me? Go look for yourself. If you don't already receive your bills online, go here and register. You can see all your bills going back three years. Look at your usage, the HCF's used in a 60 day period. Check every month and notice when your usage in a 60 day period doubles and even triples. Keep going. Does this increase happen every year at the same time of year?
Now call the water dept and question them. Their responses are scripted. They will suggest it is because it is the summer time and your kids are home from school or you have a pool or you may have a leak. My children are in year around school, I don't have a pool and I don't have a leaking pipe or running toilet that comes in June- Aug then disappears only to return again the next year same time.
Be aware, check your meters every month. Make sure your meter is being read and you are being billed correctly.
