In May of 2011 I met with a man called Mike Feldman that said he owned with his partner David the company of Relocation Movers. Mike came to my home and gave me an estimate to move me to South Carolina. His partner stayed in the car with a bulldog and slept. Mike gave me a great estimate and told me he was a retired New York City cop. He was very nice about everything. I should have known it was too good to be true. When the day came to move me mike said after going through piece by piece what need to be moved, I would need 800cu ft. On the morning of the move a rented hertz truck pulls up. It is small and I already know this is not big enough. A little short fat man named Andy shows up and says he is a partner with Mike and he'll be overseeing the move. His head mover is Victor. Andy says he is from Israel and when I spoke to their office manager Judy she says she is also from Israel.
They pack my things and when they get to the 800cu ft. mark only a quarter of what had to be moved is in the truck. they then fill that truck and need another. I wind up needing 3000cu ft and it cost me $10,000. A far cry from the original $2600 est. I got from Mike. I try calling mike after a week because I was told by Andy that Mikes father suffered a stroke and I didn't want to bother him at this time. About a week later I try to call Mike on his cell and he hung up on me and would not answer my calls. I call Andy on his cell and he informs me that Mikes dad passed away and that Andy has bought the business form Mike. Two days before they deliver the stuff to S.C. I call Judy and told her I am very upset because of the amount that I was charged over the original estimate. Andy gets on the phone and tells me unless I wire the balance of $2800 to him he will not move my stuff. He will keep it. I wire half the money.The day they are suppose to deliver the truck I get a call from another guy whose says he was hired by Andy to move the stuff that he is running late and that he wont be to my house for 2 more days. They get tomy house 3 days late and I called andy and said I wasn't going to give them the balance because it was late. He tells the guy, Eli, to take the stuff back to a warehouse.I have no choice but to pay. As eli is unloading the truck, my see that my antique china cabinets and table are all broken. I take pictures. Eli even signed the paper I wrote the list on. After unpacking days and days later I find that my sterling flatware and other valuables are missing.I call Judy and she says send her the information and she will forward it to thier insurance company.I also make a police report in New Jersey where I moved from and the Detective even called the FBI and let them know about this situation. I just got the packet that I sent to Judy with all the pictures and information back and it said "REFUSED" on it. I had also sent a copy to their insurance company which I confirmed that they were still insured at the time. I called Judy to see why they refused the information and the number has been changed. I call and left a message with Andy. I'm sure he'll never call back. I have the police investigating them as well.
We need to stop these companies that rip people off close their doors, change their names and do it all over again under another name! We need to close whatever loophole that allows this to happen. Its not right. I won't stop til they pay for what they did.If you are looking for a mover don't use anyone in the bronx, or anyone that says they are from Israel and are short and fat and claim to have partners. IT'S THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This whole experience has been devastating because of the lies the stress and all the things I can't ever replace.These people need to be put in jail. They are no different then someone who holds a gun to your head and steals your things! The only difference is that these people seem to have the law on their side!!!
