Chris Doane Everybody Loves Chris LA Handyman Claims Experience, BUT Does NOT know what he is doing - unskilled worker botched our job Los Angeles, C |

Chris was hired to do a simple concrete job - fill in a trough and smooth to match existing floor. We emailed pix and dimensions in advance. He gave his quote and claimed great experience in this area and no problem to complete a professional smooth finish to match existing floor. He showed up with 2 young guys who were nice enough, but the ones who actually ended up doing the work. Problem is nobody knew what they were doing. First red flag was when he increased his agreed upon quote claiming higher material fees. (We stupidly paid and let him continue.) Second red flag was watching the work as it got close to top and quality was looking sketchy. Chris kept claiming it will improve, etc. (Outcome was the quality of work was horrible and evidenced that nobody had ever done concrete work before.) Third red flag was when we actually allowed him to come back to fix it and he claimed we would have to pay his gas. He promply grabbed the gas money and ran off the jobsite leaving the same concrete mess without fixing. Yes, my boyfriend is gullible and paid the job outright and paid the additional gas. Lesson learned for him: never pay workers until job is completed. That would have at least saved some of our money to fix the mess he left us. Final red flag: Chris spent the whole time talking to my boyfriend and claiming skills as a sound engineer and all sorts of other handyman skills. He could do floors and molding, etc. You name it and he has years of experience. I pitty the people who hire him because I'm sure they will have the same experience. I believe Chris is clearly an unskilled worker who simply answers all ads claiming experience in the area. Then he just tries to get as much money from you before you figure it out. |

Do not hire Chris Doane! He will promise an experienced and efficient job but deliver shoddy, unuseable work. He stole cash from me personally, used our payment to Home Depot to buy his own tools, and left us in a terrible bind with nothing built. Do not hire Chris Doane! |
