Contacted this company in mid July to cancel the insurance fees being deducted from my credit card. When asked "why?", I explained that I was unemployed and that I am trying to reduce my monthly outgo as much as possible. I was told that my insurance covered unemployment and that I would be sent a claim form. Never having any experience with this, I bit and waited for the claim form. When it arrived, I took it to my former employer, filled out the personal section, ordered documents from the state unemployment agency and dug up credit card staements as requested. I made sure that every line was filled out and sent the claim form along with supporting info back to the company. Today, I received a letter saying that I had to complete sections 1 and 2 again and re-send the claim back in. After verifying with my copies of what I sent the first time, it was obvious that I had not forgotten anything. So I called and it went downhill from there. The lady I talked to said that the "auditor (someone you can't talk to!)" thought that my signature and my employer's signature looked the same. The signatures are not even close to being the same! One is in black ink and the other is blue ink. Basically, I am being accused of fraud and/or forgery! I told her that the signatures were not even close to matching but she said that she doesn't have any authority over the auditor. I was told that I could fill in the sections again and send it off but my response was "what good will that do? my signature will still be the same and my ex-employer's signature will still be the same, so if this got kicked out once, it will get kicked out again!" They are supposed to contact my ex-employer today and have him fill out a verification form that the signature is indeed his. I called my ex-employer to let him know that he would be contacted and if not, please let me know. I called the company back and talked with the same lady and informed her that if my ex-employer does not hear from the company in the next two days, I will call back and raise holy h*** and that I will not stand for being accused of fraud or forgery and that I will contact the State Attorney General, local TV and radio stations along with my attorney. Basically, they are just stalling and putting me through hoops. I find it unbelievable that an insurance company would treat someone that is unemployed this way. I have lost my home and cannot find any work. It sure didn't bother this company to take my money every month for the last eight years and now when I need their help I get treated like crap!!!! |
