I placed an order for several cellular accessories with this company around midnight Sunday, January 2, 2011. The Grand Total on the screen indicated $39.00. The space indicating shipping was "zero". The space indicating sales tax was "zero". Just $39.00 Grand Total. The next step required entering my payment information, which I did. At that point it showed "Submit Order"; which I did. There was no additional update or opportunity to review the total; it was still at $39.00. After my payment information was processed a new total appeared which was now 50% higher than my Grand Total. They added $19.88 shipping and $3.41 sales tax (California). This was done AFTER I submitted the order! Had I been given an opportunity to review the REAL total, I would have simply canceled my order and been on my way to another supplier. Of course, there was no telephone number on the website and no one would have been there at that hour anyway, so I sent them an email and requested a cancellation of my order. In the morning, when they opened, I was immediately on the phone to them. This was 8:30am. They told me it was too late to cancel the order, that it was already being prepared to ship. After I explained the situation, they apologized and offered me $7.00 off the shipping, but they would not stop the order from going out. They said I could return the shipment if I didn't want it. Yea, and at whose expense?
I have ordered many things online. Never once, have I not had an opportunity to review my order, WITH all the charges and costs, before pressing the submit button. And I could tell from the representative I dealt with, that I wasn't the first person to have this experience. This is a DECEITFUL business tactic. BUYER BEWARE!!!
