Working for Beau Hammon and Jose Ordonez seemed like a good idea as both gentleman present well and promise a rewarding "partnership" for anyone willing to work hard and invest in themself. The store seemed legit, so what was wrong??? EVERYTHING!!!!
.) The structure of the business requires that all employees create an LLC or Corporation and operate as INDEPENDENT CONTRACTORS. This was initially presented as an opportunity to save money at tax time. After working in locations as far as 2 hours away from one another, I quickly realized the benefit to CSOKI-no employer expenses, ALL YOURS! Of course you are also responsible for all inventory and sales meaning any items that are missing, stolen, returned, or damaged will be "sold" to you.
.) Hope you weren't wanting benefits...health, dental,401K.. better start setting moneyaside from your paychecks.
.) Sell a phone?! Good Job!! ..as long as itis not returned as you will be required to resell or pay full retail for the device (ranging from $120-$550)
.)Someone cancel their service or quit paying their bill??? Congratulations because you have not only lost your commission on the device but the difference between selling price and retail price (often several hundred dollars).
.)You own your own business right? WRONG. You willbe required to text, email, and meet with your bossesoften toensure theirmicromanaging style. You mustattend all meetings, dress and groom as preferred by Beau or Jose (ie no facial hair or shirts not blue or white), receive aschedule (never on time) for your next month, turn in paperwork weekly while you are "off". Essentially, they get all the benefits of having you as an employeeANDcontractor.
.)Is your paycheck short? Of course it is... EVERYTIME. Want help tracking your missing funds? Uh oh!You may be in trouble for suggestingyou were drastically underpaid.
.)Phone costs areinflatedto increase profit margin for CSOKI... that means you lose.
.) Hope you have no morals because CSOKIis designed so that you can sell phones for whatever price you want! ...as long as you don't match competitors low price! If you do, the difference is most likely coming out of your pocket. "SELL YOURSELF, PROMOTE YOURSELF" is a favorite expressionto make you believeit's okayto gouge.Making up fees like "upgrade fee""PDA setup fee""phone book transfer" to make an extra buck. Those fees may have a time and place, but not during a routine sale. Does corporate charge these, nope!
.) Let's hit bonus, all you have to do is work 8 days a week. Beau and Jose will insist that your store location does not matter... do not fall for this ridiculous logic. You can be the best salesman in the market but if the door isn't swingin you are fallingbehind.
.) Not willing to drive a ridiculous distance to work? Prepare to be scrutinized and black balled for not wanting to make money. Any 7th grader knows if your spending and extra 4 hours and 50 dollars to possibly make $60, you are better off working at McDonalds.
.) Cheap owners, managers. Your computers will crash daily. Don't expect a fix as you watch customers leave frustrated.
.) You are DISPOSABLE.
Long story short, don't be fooled by what seems like an opportunity to make money and advance your career by this Mickey Mouse operation.
