Cellean or Cellan |
Cellean NOT a free trial |
9th of Jan, 2012 by Alex Okane |
After 37 days from first contact (Nov 30, 2011) with Cellean, I finally received the so-called Trial Jan 5, 2012. The shipping label has the date of Dec 6, 2011 and Cellean/Cellan charged my credit card on Dec 18, 2011, which is 12 days after they shipped the product. In Canada, health food products must be delivered within 15 days from the charge date for it to qualify as 'Non-receipt of product" and credit reversal by the credit card company. I registered my complaint with the credit card company. Meanwhile, I documented many e-mails and phone calls to Cellean/Cellan.
Cellean/Cellan eventually credited by account; however, they paid it back in American Funds, so I lost the Canadian Exchange. I have maxed out my no-overdraft credit card for a few months to prevent subsequent Cellean/Cellan charges to this card.
This is NOT a free trial; they charge your credit card for it whether you get the product or not; and you certainly do not get it in time to 'trial" within the 16-day period to report whether you want to return it or not. BEWARE negative option billing! This "Trial" is a ruse to get your credit card number, and more often than not, victims will not go through the trouble to recover their money, so they got you. |

I also did the free trial with cellan and had a completely different experience. Before giving your credit card information you should read the fine print. It clearly says that you will be charged on the 16th day of your free trial if you do not cancel before this time. I also live in canada and my bottle took longer than that to arrive but i simply phoned them and the representative was very friendly and extended my trial, then before my trial was over i phoned again to cancel. Did not get charged a penny.
Most people who think this is a scam do not read the terms and conditions and only complain once they realize they have to pay once their trial is over. |

@Technopenguin
I suspect you're working for the cellean company based on your email. When I signed up for the 'free trial' that is what I believed I was doing - getting a 30 supply to try it and just pay for the shipping. I never knew that I was signing up for a subscription and that the 'free trial' was actually going to cost me $90.00. You sound exactly like the customer server agent I just spoke to. Using the same script.
My question then is: If this is so up front then why, after accepting an on-line order, is an email not sent verifying the order and clarifying that an order has in fact been placed and the 'terms' of that order. That is standard practice for orders of any product on-line - an acknowledgement email and clarification of the terms.
Had that, in fact, taken place I would have had the opportunity to 'cancel' or 'extend' the 'trial' which was already expired before I received the product. Of course I already know the answer - if they did that, they would have consumers cancelling and they would be unable to sustain this shameful practice.
Well, Karma's a bitch - what you put out comes back to you tenfold - somebody's in for some serious payback. |

I agree with you. I did not read the fine print and was charged for a whole bottle exactly 16 days after my order (per the terms). I called to complain and the VERY friendly representative refunded half my money and sent me 2 more bottles. The fine print clearly states the terms- I just did not read them. They did not have to give me any money back nor send me another trial bottle. Satisfied on both fronts. I teach 6th grade boys and often yell at them for not reading for detail- it was me who was in trouble this time! LOL |

I got caught out by this too. Really stupid of me I had reservations even as i looked at the website. Have lodged a complaint and received promise of a refund if i return what is left of the product. I was billed for over £240 sterling so no small amount. I received no further product just the two bottles of the 'free trial'. £240 for a few pills in a so-called free trial???? SCAM written all over it...not funny |

I agree with Takenbutsmarter... Although I read the fine print, I would have thought that a truly customer-serviced-based company would have not only sent an email to show tracking on the package, but would have allowed me to actually TRY OUT the product before charging me for the apparent "free trial". I received my trial bottle three days AFTER the second charge was taken out of my account. That means, their actual trial offer in my case was -3 days! I was charged, then I cancelled my account, and THEN I tried it out, and once you cancel your account, nothing more can be done about any charges (or so they say). My next phone call will be to VISA! No way this was worth 90 bucks, and even if it was, it's now taking up even more valuable time trying to deal with these automated 'people'!
Also, I am not a phone person... I tried dealing with this by email, but eveything is automated that way. I eventually had to call, only for the person to just re-iterate all their terms back on me. I know what I signed up for, but I didn't get a 16-day trial!
Who else thinks that those "customer service agents" last only 2 weeks max. on their job? |

This is a massive SCAM. It's ok saying 'read the fine print', but the fine print DOES NOT appear on the website. I am aware of companies who do this and carefully read the whole website before ordering - there was no mention of any further payments.
Cellean tried to bill my credit card for 4 payments - 2 for £69.95 and 2 for £99.95 - ALL ON THE SAME DAY!!! Fortunately for me, my credit card company phoned me to check I had authorised these, and I was able to confirm that I had not, and the payments didn't go through.
What an absolute SCAM - hope they get tracked down and closed for sharp practice.

Cellan is a 16-day trial which starts the day of order, which you agreed to on the checkout page. If you are satisfied with the product, we bill you for your initial order and subsequent bottles every 30 days thereafter until cancelled. If you are unhappy with the product and cancel after the trial period you are charged for any bottles that have been shipped to you. The phone numbers for all countries are listed on the bottle and customer service representatives are happy to help you with cancellation of your membership. I ordered the free trial of 1month supply for £5.95, skimming through the fineprint I thought them a reputable legitimate company. Don't be taken in! A few weeks later I was debited for £99.52 which I had never requested. This is a SCAM. They know no one reads the small print, and the small trial amount is followed by a charge which you never knowingly agreed to. Theyt are legitimate theives.
BE WARNED. |

It's not a scam people. READ THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS before buying anything!!! It says it all there!!! Anyone who got charged the 90$, you signed it saying it was ok then gave your credit card info It cleary states to cance after 16 days or you will; be charged!!! READ people before you give your credit card info out you gotta be smart!!! |

It is a scam, I received an e-mail that offered this "free" trial no where was it made clear about the additional $99 and $69 dollars per month continuation payments - IF IT DID I WOULD HAVE GONE THROUGH WITH THE TRIAL.
Another thing is the invoice says dollars, but they take pounds.
A total disgrace as a company. |

This is not a scam. I read the fine print and had no concerns with how they conducted business. Matter of fact, when I called to cancel, they offered me several discounts! I ended up keeping the product and received a 50% discount for life! I do not work for the company at all!! I seriously was trying to cancel and they kept offering bigger and bigger discounts. If I worked for the company, I don't think I would be letting you know that they do that. It is a little weird that their customer service hours are from 9pm-9am during the week. I wrote that correctly...overnight. And that the only website is for the free trial. Other than that, very friendly customer service. |

Not only did I too get ripped off by them charging my credit card because I did not inform them that I didn't want their product because it did not work for me. They claimed that because I did not inform them in time, it made a bincding contract that they could continue to charge my credit card for a years supply. Not only was I never informed of this, the product did not work at all! I never lost so much as a pound and have been taking it for eight months. I was mpt aware that others had had issues and am glad that I can add my dissaproval to the list. I am going to cancell my credit card so I do not have to incure any more of this scam.

This company is a joke. The tablets seem to work a little bit but then again it could just be a placebo affect. The Cellan did reduce my appetite slightly but is definitely not worth the $105 USD for a 30 day trial bottle that was deducted off my credit card by them without my consent. The Collon Cleanse gave me diaorrhea which of course will make anyone lose weight for a short period of time. They also charged me $80 USD for this without my consent. It is a good thing I check my credit card statement regularly as they would have taken the same two $ amounts off my credit card again next month. What a rip off! I can see a few posts here with people claiming that you should read the fine print. No one ever reads the fine print! The company should have been straight forward with the customers and not sneaky in trying to take people's money but telling the customers straight up how much it would cost. If they have to write it in the fine print where no one will see it, it has to make you wonder...how good is this product? It can't be that good if they are trying to pull a dodgy on everyone. When I rang up the Australian number to cancel my account and therefore stop the payments, I was transferred through to America. I hate to think how much that phone call will cost. The customer service person seemed friendly enough and it was an easy process for them to find my account with just my full name and postal address however when I told her that I wanted to cancel all future payments and my account, she then tried to sell me more by offering 25% off the next batch. When I said no, she then offered 50% off. When I said no again, she asked why it didn't work for me and tried to offer me solutions. When I eventually got angry with her, she finally said "Ok your account has been cancelled". I had to then ask her to make sure no more payments would come off my card. She agreed but I'm still not 100% convinced so I will no doubt be checking my credit card again in the next coming weeks. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! |

Wish I found this site earlier!!! I came at this from a "reporters" story - I''m sure it was a weight loss story on Yahoo - unfortunately I didn't keep the link - who knew!!.
I read "Free trial, use for 30 days and see results". I read T&C - nothing about "I'll pay for it after 16 days unless I cancel" (I check for those sorts of things in T&C!!)
After clicking to "purchase" I ended up on (what I now know as) the Cellan website, which told me I had to pay $5.95 P&P. confused I went back to the beginning, carefully reading everything - except what I now realise was the T&C on the Cellan website (I had read them on the "free trial website" and assumed they were the same - bad assumption!! Yes lesson learnt!!). So, accepting that the reporter probably didn't know about P&P, I went ahead. I kept the confirmation emails & carefully checked for any "extras" - nothing I wasn't expecting!!!
I have purchase "free trials" before, where at every step of the way, they are very clear about "having to pay if you don't cancel" - on the purchase and in the confirmation email / invoice. I am happy with knowing upfront, so I can monitor & remain aware and make the choice to continue or not. Cellan doesn't give you the opportunity.
I've trialed other products that do the same thing, and I certainly haven't had anything as dramatic as what the reporter wrote about!! Given my experience with the company, i question how good is a product where they have to lie to get you to "purchase"??!! In all sincerity, I was expecting a bottle of say 10 tablets to provide a sample of the effects - which would be a legitimate campanyis marketing strategy.
Good luck to all - I won't be doing this again!! |
