Where do I start- This company CCA EOS also known as collecto and many other names I do not know yet ruined my life for over 4 years. They tryed and I say tryed to collect a 1600 cell phone debt that was not mine and placed it on my credit report no questions asked. They never called me or contacted me in any way I just woke up one day and it was on my credit report. I disputed it with all the credit reporting agency's numerous times for them only to come back with debt verified. I later found out that the verification process with the big three as I call them is a simple address phone number or social security number. After my attempts with the big three, Equiafax, Experian, and Transunion was a big flop I attempted to call CCA myself only to be met with attitude, broken English, harassment, ridicule and embarrassment. They did not care one bit that the debt was not mine, they did not care that they had indeed broken federal law by placing it on my credit report, they did not care that what they had done to me. The only thing they cared about was collecting money from me that same day. In a attempt to negotiate with me I was transferred around to three or four different people and the debt went from 1600 down to 1000 down to 900 down to 750 all of which I refused to pay. The debt isn't even mine I said, but to get rid of this I will pay you 250 just to get passed it and move on- I got laughed at and that point I was hung up on by the supervisor. All is not lost here people, do you research debt validation and what is required by Federal Law, you are protected and you can fight these people and not spend a dime. At this point I filed complaints with the Consumer Protection Agency and the Attorney General in Norwell MA. I also contacted an attorney and gave them permission to speak on my behalf to CCA, if you cant afford an attorney you can still fight them. My attorney was also met with attitudes, disregard for the law and total unprofessional behavior. After I did my research I wrote a letter to them requesting debt validation, note- do a Google search using these terms and you will find a form print letter you can use, search form letters asking collection agency's to validated debt you should get many options I indeed got the listing removed from my credit report the same week I sent the letter- Because they did not have info in which to validate this debt was even mine, they had nothing but my name and address You can fight these a*hole do your research and be diligent. If there is any Lawyers out there reading this that would like to take my case and sue this 650 million dollar a year company pro Bono call me contact me please I am going next week to file suit against them for what they did to me and info or help here with contact or even class action info would be appreciated. |
