CARS PROTECTION PLUS CAR WARRANTY SCAM Myersville, Pennsylvania
27th of Sep, 2011 by User965970
Cars Protection Plus is a company that sells limited car warranty insurance through used car dealerships only. The company has a contract that sounds fantastic and appears to cover all major engine and power train components of a car or truck. The insurance requires that upon a failure of any covered part the person take their vehicle to a repair facility and obtain an authorization number. Once this is obtained the person is required to pay the repair facility all cost in the diagnostics of the problem. This includes the customer paying for all tear down costs. The word "diagnostics" is the key word interpreted by CARS that allows them to deny any claim. CARS requires that a mechanic give them the "exact cause" of any failure in order to authorize a claim. It is not enough that the covered part failed - you have to also tell CARS "why" it failed. A mechanic will always find a loose bolt a worn gasket or some other such issue during a tear down of a used vehicle. This is the trick! Once the mechanic mentions any extraneous part like a loose bolt or worn gasket - CARS will use this as the "why" the covered component or insured part failed. They then deny the claim. It is simple as that. CARS has been sued time and time again. The good news is that CARS usually looses the case. See, e.g., Tang v. CARS Protection Plus, Case No.: 2006AP1540 (Wisconsin); Matthew Van Eman v. CARS Protection Plus, Court of Michigan Appeals; Adam Whetzel v. CARS Protection Plus, Lake County Ohio. In addition to the many cases it is clear that CARS settled a case with the Pennsylvania's Attorney General in June 2006 for 25,000.00 for failing to honor warranties and for misrepresenting important tems of its warranty products. The case of Tang v. CARS is really illustrative as to how CARS treats its customers and exactly how they interpret their warranty language in their favor and against the customer. Do not purchase this limited coverage from your used car dealer. It is an absolute scam. One can easily find numerous examples of the complaints against CARS on the internet. You can do a search for the Tang v. Cars case or any of the others mentioned above to educate yourself on the manner in which CARS uses the language of their warranty to deny any and all claims.
