Capital Recovery, Inc. Lisa Madsen President, Kaylen Olsen Collections Manager Beware! This Company is an Absolute Scam! Logan, Utah |
20th of Nov, 2011 by User507199 |
In July 2011 I contacted HUD and received a refund from a property I had sold back in 2000. Shortly there after Capital Recovery Inc of Logan Utah contacted me to say I owed them a fee for receiving the refund and if I did not pay they would place a negative mark on my credit report. The contact was made by their collections manager Kaylen Olsen. These people are complete scam artists! Check the Better business Bureau reports on them, they have an "F" rating with 20+ complaints against them. There are also numerous other complaints against them on this site for similar reasons. Here are the facts on my claim: I made contact with HUD myself in July 2011 and received the return in August 2011. I have had NO CONTACT WHAT SO EVER with Capital Recovery since April 22, 2005 (more then six years before I made the claim myself). They have acknowledged this in writing. They claimed I had signed a contract with them in 2002 (nine years prior to me making a claim). There was no legal contract signed, I did sign an aknowledgement that I would use their services in 2002 (about 3 sentences long). They never filed ANY paperwork on my behalf with HUD and did not contact me for over six years. When I addressed this with them, their response was that they did not know how to get in touch with me. They did no work to merit any fees. They are now trying to blackmail me as I see they have attempted with numerous other on this site as well. I find it unbelievable that they feel after admitting that they filed no paperwork on my behalf and not having contact with me for six years they have earned a fee. DO NOT USE THEIR SERVICES! You can very easily do the same thing directly through HUD/FHA pay no fee and have your refund quickly without having to worry about being scammed. The fact is, if they had performed a service and obtained my refund, I would have gladly paid the fee as I would for any professional service. I sent a letter to Kaylen Olsen and Lisa Madsen (president) and described my course of action. My next step will be contacting the BBB although that probably does not matter to them as they have numerous claims against them with an "F" rating. If that does not resolve the matter, I will be contacting the Attorney General in Utah, HUD and if I have to I will file a small claims suit. This is no way to conduct business. Here is some helpful information if you run into the same problem: U.S. Dept. of Housing and Urban Development P.O.
