Canucks Playoff Tickets
Canucks Playoff Tickets Scam Linda Byrd, Zephyr Realty Scam Any City, Internet
25th of May, 2011 by User597562
There is a person posting canucks tickets for sale named Linda. She says that she is a real estate agent from Zephyr Real Estate, based in San Francisco. The story goes that the tickets were bought by the company for a client that cancelled a deal. Now she wants to sell the tickets to get the cost back. Their are 4 tickets in a row. Location is lower bowl - awesome seats. The price is $300 each (must by all 4 for a total of $1200). When you email her, she introduces herself using an actual Zephyr agents
name and company graphics to make the email look legit. Only, the phone numbers are not for the real "Linda", the website for Zephyr Real Estate is a bogus rendition of the real website. When you write that you are interested. She sends back an email on how to arrange payment and delivery using "a company that her firm uses frequently". How I found out this was a scam: I contacted the real "Linda" from Zephyr Real Estate who wrote back and said: "This is a scam and they unfortunately used my name and contact info". So beware of similar set ups. Here is her scam email:
Hi, my name is Linda Byrd and I am from San Francisco, Ca. I still have the 4 Canucks Stanley Cup tickets for home game 1 and home game 2, all 4 in sec 118, row 8, all 4 together for $300 each. I can send the tickets with overnight services and you can receive them on Friday at your address in Canada. They were bought by my company as a bonus we were going to give on a deal to a customer from Canada. Unfortunately the deal did not go through and now we have
them, but cannot use them. I work for Zephyr Real Estate, in San Francisco, Ca. My company will pay for the delivery of the tickets with the overnight delivery so you can receive them on Friday.
These are hard tickets, they were bought from season holder, and now we are looking to get back what was paid for them.
If you are still interested please back to me and let's work on the
delivery and payment arrangements. Cheers Linda

These scammers are moving around. I got almost the exact same scam proposal for 2 pairs of tickets for Game 1 and 2, section 107, awesome $325 each. Obviously this appeared to be a scam, so I looked into this further. The persons name was Vicky Crompton at a company called The Right Move in Los Angeles. The street address given was real I think, but I traced the domain name of the e-mail she sent and it was only registered on May 27, 2011...3 days ago! She gave an excuse that reply e-mails were being blocked by her e-mail system so she then provided a personal [email protected] address for further correspondence. I asked for a scan of the tickets and she sent one which looked very legitimate, EXCEPT, she put a pen over the bar code. I asked for a scan without the pens over the bar code, but got no reply at that point. She had also suggested using a delivery company called "Parcel2ship" which appeared to have a legitimate business and only paid the seller when the purchaser agreed to accept the products as bought (ie. legitimate tickets). If that is a legitimate third party delivery company, then I can see that their scam will work well if the buyer immediately accepts delivery before using the tickets (thereby authorizing the payment of their cash to the seller before knowing for sure if the tickets got them in to the game).

A COUPLE OF OTHER THINGS YOU CAN DO TO PROTECT YOURSELF:
- SEARCH FOR THE E-MAIL DOMAIN NAME AND LOOK FOR THE OWNER AND THE DATE OF REGISTRATION TO TRY TO DETERMINE IF IT IS A LEGITIMATE E-MAIL DOMAIN NAME
- DO AN STREET ADDRESS SEARCH TO MATCH TO THE COMPANY (EXACTLY!)
- PHONE THE COMPANY AT THAT ADDRESS TO ASK IF THE PERSON IS REALLY EMPLOYED THERE AND IF SO TALK TO THEM DIRECTLY.
- SEARCH THE PERSON'S NAME WITH "SCAM" AFTER IT TO SEE IF OTHERS HAVE REPORTED IT

Here is her pitch:

"Hi there,

My name is Vicky Crompton and I'm from US.
The tix are still available and I can sell them to you for $325 each ( 2 tickets for game 2 ). Fair price considering we are not brokers.
The tix were bought for one of our CEO, who's a huge hokey fan. Anyway, he can't make it to Vancouver anymore so now he instructed me to handle the sale of these tickets.
I definitely prefer to get these to real hockey fans if possible, instead of a scalper. No offence.
My company will pay for the delivery of the tickets with the overnight delivery so you can receive it on time.
If you are still interested please back to me, let me know in which game are you interested, and let's work on the delivery and payment arrangements.

Best,
Vicky

Gordon,

Thank you so much. This same lady is in contact with me. I am in the process of reporting her to The Canadian Anti-Fraud Center. I am so sick of these people scamming innocent fans.

The email provided above was exactly the same one that I received. It is complete BS.

What a world.

Thanks again Gordon

I would like to receive the tickets or even see them before I send money through some site I’ve never heard of. You sound like a scam to be honest and you should be ashamed of yourself. How do you sleep at night?

I was checking for a way to make the exchange from here to you and I came across this option, which is a very good way to make this happen.
It's provide by Parcel2Ship and it will help us with this transaction.
They are designed specifically for internet transactions, they handle both the payment and delivery part of this transaction. They seem pretty nice and trustworthy and they provide a service that we can use for our exchange.
The link below is taken from the Parcel2Ship site and it explains the procedure I am talking about in 7 easy to follow steps. Please check the link and the procedure and let me know if you agree to the terms.
http://parcel2ship.com.deliverydetails.info/en_language/index.html
With this procedure Parcel2Ship will deliver the tickets to you, receive your payment and I will only receive the payment for the tickets after the game, after you receive and use them.
I will pay for the overnight delivery, via fedex, so you will receive them in time.
Let me know if we may have a deal

Eliot

Hi there,

The two tickets are still available and I can sell them to you for $300 each, ( 2 tickets for game 2 ). This are located in section 103, row 7, seats 7 and 8. Decent section with good view for a fair price.
I received these tickets as a wedding gift but unfortunately we can't make it to Vancouver anymore because the game time conflict with my work schedule. Btw, I'm from LA, sry, I forgot to mention earlyer.
Anywat, I definitely prefer to get these to some real hockey fans if possible, instead of a broker so if you are still interested please back to me and let's work on the delivery and payment arrangements.

Thanks, Eliot
