California School
California School of Law virtual online school fails to proxy exams. Indiscriminate accusations of cheating. Forfiet your tuition. Santa Barbara, Ca
22nd of May, 2011 by User617390
No exam proxy online. Students are "on their honor" during virtual exam environment according to professors. Everything is operated in a Desktop environment where students can save documents from other documents. There is no remote proxy by professors, so a student can have unlimited resources open on his/her Desktop environment during exams. School was supposed to get webcams to solve this, but the only solution would be a remote desktop application that allows professors to see the student's desktop environment remotely. This problem surfaces when there is a"suspected" "Cut and paste" happening, as in my case. Even though I did not cut and paste anything on my final exam document, I was terminated and accused of cheating. I addressed issue at length with Dean Hunt in a written letter. NO RESPONSE. Instead Dean Hunt shifted the blame to my academic status even though I had maintained a B average throughout the semester on ALL of my exams and drill questions. Not once did he address the deficiency of the school's inability to effectively proxy exams remotely and the professor trying to detect plagiarism by probability. But they were sure hot to collect my remaining tuition ($1,700) by pursuing aggressive collections and threats of summary judgment and marred credit scores! BEWARE!

Let’s look at the reality of the situation: First, Mr. Ferrini was expelled from the California School of Law for cheating on a final. His explanation on how information in a closed book/closed note exam was included in his final was not plausible. Secondly, Mr. Ferrini did not have a B average as he claims – in the 6 classes he took, he received one B, in the other 5 classes he received C or less. Furthermore, Mr. Ferrini was on academic probation when he was expelled.

This is not true at all, CSL uses ExamSoft which is the same software all major law schools use and the State Bar of California when it administers the bar exam. ExamSoft shuts down all programs running on your computer so that it is impossible to access information on your computer. Further, many law schools have take home exams, I attended a top tier law school and every semester at least half my exams were take home. and they were not proctored. When you are in law school, it is assumed that you are an adult and are moral. Thus there is no need to someone to look over your shoulder to ensure you are not cheating. If the professor suspects that you are cheating then there can be an investigation. If someone is found to be cheating, it is pretty much a zero tolerance policy at all law schools, meaning you are dismissed from law school. No one in their right mind would spend all that money to go to law school and then risk it all. Sounds to me like someone was cheating and got caught.
