Cabinet Warehouse Plus, Inc.
Unlicensed Contractor - Inferior Workmanship
18th of Nov, 2014 by KitchenNightmare
Joe Braccio, owner of Cabinet Warehouse Plus is quite slick an moved into what was the former Bay City Plywood location on US Highway 19 in Hudson, FL which is where I thought I was going originally........I WISH I had seen previous online complaints before I hired Cabinet Warehouse Plus. We hired them to do our kitchen remodel on 6/7/14 with the understanding that this would be a 2 to 2 1/2 week project.
We were told by Dan Sudnick that he & Joe Braccio were licensed General Contractors and that he would be overseeing the project. I have since found out that neither are licensed GC's and that it is illegal for an unlicensed contractor to subcontract out work to licensed subs. Joe Braccio emailed me a copy of a GC license that was a dark copy of what ended up being someone else's GC license.

Unfortunately, this project was a problem from the first week. Joe's sales rep, Dan who represented himself as a licensed GC supervised the jackhammering of my foundation to move the plumbing 10 feet. This had to be done twice as he did not measure and confirm with us where the plumbing should be moved to to accomodate a larger island, to the island having to be moved for the same reason, this has been a painful project that is still not completed over 5 months later.

We advised Dan that we wanted to go with tile floors as we had wood laminate recently installed in all the bedrooms and were very unhappy as they sounded like rice crispies when you walked on them. He convinced us that this was due to a bad install and assured us that they would use double space age type underlayment that would prevent any sound. We agreed to go with the wood laminate and ripped out $1,000 worth of flooring in our master bedroom. The floor makes more noise than our first floor did. It sounds like rice cripsies almost everywhere that you walk and now makes a squeaking sound in several areas. There are significant dips in the flooring where it is obvious that no one made sure the flooring was level prior to the install and we now are seeing water damage in areas. The door casings were cut to make room for the 12mm laminate flooring that are uneven and have jagged upward angles and where the corners are, there are gaps. The owner, Joe Braccio has denied that his employees even cut the door casings which is absured especially when you realize that there was 22 year linoleum underneath. He has gone as far to ask us if we even saw his employees cut the door casings. Copy of independent floor inspection is attached which confirms that he did not level the floor prior to installation or accilmate the product to the house at least 48 hours in advance of the installation as recommended by Parkay Floors.

In the process of installing the flooring, their employee accidentally hit the front of my brand new refrigerator that we had not even plugged in and put a ding in the door. Joe Braccio has insisted that his employee did not ding the refrigerator and asked if we saw them hit it. Again, his employees are the only ones doing work in the house and it was his employee, Dan Sudnick who insisted that the fridge be brought in the house before the remodel was complete due to the issues with him putting the island in the wrong location and then moving it without our consent.

This is just a small sampling of the issues we have had since this project began on 6/9. We also have broken and chipped granite with huge seams that do not match. Joe advised he would correct some of the granite issues but when he sent A&D Granite out of Tampa over to measure for a replacement piece for just the island, this man walked in and walked right back out after less than a minute and said he could not measure an angle. He has not returned since nor contacted us. Unfinished drywall, only 1 or 2 screws for each hinge on the cabinets instead of the 4 per hinge, exhaust not replaced as they closed up the ceiling and now indicate that they aren't licensed to replace, missing baseboards, drywall damaged and not coated properly, range not level, unable to replace kickplate for dishwasher due to the cabinet installation over the flooring. (See attached list and my response to the BBB)

Joe Braccio was concerned that I was going to sue him and told us he was pulling back as he didn't want to put anymore of his $ (I guess he forgot that I was paid almost in full) into the project if he was going to get sued anyways. This company is not licensed and cannot subcontract out work and oversee work that should have had permits pulled. I am very disatisifed and would NEVER recommend them. I have filed complaints with the Pasco County Contractors Licensing Board as well as the Dept of Business & Professional Regulation (complaint #2014036673), the BBB and now have contacted the Pasco County Sherriff's Office as it is illegal to represent yourself as a Licensed General Contractor when you are in fact, NOT. I encourage anyone who is considering hiring them to contact me and I will gladly share photos of the work that is still not completed.

Since I have started making my complaints, they have started to call and respond to emails but that may also be as a result of me contacting all of their suppliers to let them know that they walked off the job. I also charged the entire remodel on my Am Ex card and have disputed the last $9,600 which has the owner's attn now. I have brought in several independent inspectors for the flooring and the problems are from an unlevel foundation that should have been pre-inspected by Joe Braccio, who represents himself as being in the flooring business for over 20 years. Sadly, I emailed Joe photos in June detailing my concerns just from the foundation work alone as it was very unlevel when they put the concrete down and I did not think that the cabinets much less wood laminate flooring should be installed without leveling. Almost every problem we had was avoidable had they been the licensed General Contractor’s that they advertise themselves to be.

As of today, 11/18/14, the kitchen is still not complete.........
