C.P. International Security Overcharged me for a 2 hour class for fireguard and lied about job placement. New York, New York |

I found an ad in the news paper for guards wanted. I called the number and eventually a lady called me back for an appointment. She said she liked the way I sounded over the phone and that she had a job for me. She then asked me to come in but when she asked me if I had a fire guard licence, she told me I had to bring in $75.00 for the class, but bring $80. just in case the price went up. When I got to the office, she gave me an application to fill out and then called me into her office. This lady then proceeded to tell me that the class was going to cost me $249.00 I had another few days to come up with the money that I had to borrow from my mother and best friend before taking the class. The day of the class, this lady collected my payment and told me "welcome aboard" then proceeded to give me false information about her having a position to place me in, with full benefits and I would be working in a corporate building with a chance for promotion. After passing the fire guard test, I brought them my certificate of fitness from the FDNY. They gave me an appointment to come in for job placement. I then go back for my job placement only to find that the building wasn't even open and people were standing and waiting in the lobby with me for the same reason. This man who looked and acted like the owner, "Ken Pollard" apologized for the mix up and sat me and another lady down in his office to hand us referral sheets to other guard companies, so that we would then go there and apply. He then told me to call him and let him know what happened. When I didn't call till I went to the second place, Mr. Pollard spoke down to me, telling me I was an adult and I should be taking care of this myself. I never asked him for another job again. This place was a hot mess! I also realized I could go back to where I originally went for my guard license and paid $60 for the same fire guard class.. lesson learned. |
