In December of 2010 I responded to an advertisement on EBay for the sale of a 1978Pontiac TransAm. I was contacted by Bob McElreath and Erica Kampert from a company called Build-A-Bandit (AKA: Discount Automotive Classic Restoration). They stated they take old cars and restore them (specializing in Pontiacs and Mustangs). Their add was for the end product and priced out the car I was interested in accordingly. They directed me to their web site and stated the build takes about 10 months to complete (5 months to the assembly line and another 5 months to build). They were running a special on Ebay and were able to build these cars and offer discounts for pre payments in full. I eventually wired them the sum of $16, 500 after reviewing a contract for the build and purchase of a 1978 Pontiac TransAm on February 16, 2011 through a wire transfer to their account at Telco Community Credit Union Since then, I have not been able to get them to return my calls. I just received an email stating they were delayed 4 months and have not responded to subsequent calls or emails. I called a former reference they gave me, other customers who informed me that they too are the victims of their scheme . I learned that many of their customers have been waiting two years fr cars. I sent them an email on 8-0-2011 demanding my money returned and contact from them or I would pursue criminal charges accordingly. They have not responded. I have found a former employee for the company who is willing to disclose the information and aslo claims it’s a house of cards. they swith VINs on cars and jump titles after they purchase from other pasrts around the country for those who get cars. |

I ordered a 1978 Burt Reynolds Special Edition. It is whats on the build for I have. I ordered August of 2010 and just recently recieved the vehicle. I had paid 14, 500.00 and at the time thought it was a very fair price. I recieved the car three weeks ago and have really enjoyed the attention and fun it has brought me. When I read some the comments about Bob and the cars he built, I was floored. I think he could charge twice what my car was paid for and still be a fair deal. I guarantee you no one else would build a car for this type price. Anyway they were fair people with me. I would recommend them to people that want a cool, nice, Trans Am, at a super affordable price. I over the months have during the build got to know Bob and some of the guys working on the car. I would do this all again if I could. When I saw one person claiming it wasnt a real deal business, that is just untrue. Ive been there and seen many, many nice Trans Ams and know through the internet several customers who ordered from them. This kind of stuff makes you see how the internet can be a format for fools, as well as a research tool. |

I live near Discount Automotive Classic Restoration in NC. I have bought both a Trans Am and a Mustang from them. The cars took a bit longer than originally promised, but we had an exceptionally bad winter. I did sell the Mustang, at a profit, because i preferred the Trans Am. I am a quite satisfied customer and wouldn't hesitate to recommend Discount Automotive Classic Restoration to anyone. |

I have also been ripped off by them. They even sent me the vin# for the car i was supposed to get last month.
Now, I can't get a hold of them.E-mail gets sent back and phone # mail box is full.I live in PA.I did some research and found out where he lives.Seems like me and a couple of my freinds are going to take a little road trip pretty soon.I have saved all of my e-mails and photo's of my supposed car, wire transfer receipts. If I can't get legal justice, I will declare martial law. |
