My husband and i contracted Buds and Dougs Mobile home service to move a monile home from Rathdrum, ID to Sagle, ID. They originally asked for $2561.00, which i paid by certified check in full. On the day of the move, thetruck was scheduled to get to the site at 1pm when we were done moving the stairs and deck from the home. We finished early and the movers had the truck come in early at 12:30pm. While the company was prepping the mobile home to be moved one of the employees was finishing hooking the mobile home to the truck, Tony, and said "dont let me forget to drain the water tank next before we move it." The company moved the mobile home but was not able to Sagle but did not finish because it got dark. The next day they said they would not finish setting up the mobile home until we gave them another $300.00. Why they wanted to charge us another 300 dollars for work we paid them to do in full that they had not completed I don't know but we did give them the check because we needed the job finished even though we voiced our concerns and the company disregarded our questioning. Later, when we had the water hooked up by a plumber we found the pipes had broke because the movers did NOT drain the water tank like they said they would and there were freezing temperatures that caused the water already in the tank to freeze and break the pipes. We contacted the company twice about the problem requesting them to pay for the damages to be fixed, roughly less then 100 dollars of work IF the water tank was not damaged by their negalgence the first time they refused and rudly hung up on us saying "we are not paying for it." I contacted the company a second time where they said they didn't have to drain the water tank and that "sometimes we do and sometimes we dont" and that they would talk to Tony the employee who said on the sight he would. I then proceeded to say i would like to talk to the owner and the office manager I was talking to, Shannon, talked over be and said bye and hung up quickly. I called directly after that and they did not pick up, then called again and the owner answered very rudly saying he was not going to cover the damages and that Tony said he never said he would drain the tank. Im not sure how they could have talked to Tony within that 2 minutes when they first hung up on me and then i called them back since the previous conversation they said Tony was not in and they needed to talk to him first to all of a sudden they had an answer from him in 2 minutes. I am filing the complaint for1) charging me more money for a job I already paid for, and 2) not following thru with providing a service of turning off the water tank when they said on sight they would and did not which caused damage and we are asking to be reimbursed for. The fact is if we knew he did not drain the tank we would have done it ourselves but the fact is the employee said he would, he did not, and damage was caused in which we want them to pay for but they are refusing to. |
