Brake Check John Peveto Brake Check: Ignored BBB Complaint, Fradulent Fixes, Unsafe Vehicle San Antonio, Texas |
29th of Dec, 2011 by User639829 |
In deciding to do business with Brake Check instead of my usual Gunn Infiniti, I took my 2004 Infiniti G35 to their Austin Highway location in San Antonio in August 2011. After inspection, they told me I needed new rear rotors, all new pads, caliper adjustment/rebuild and a system bleed & flush/refill. Total price: $650. They also told me they rotated the tires. I agreed to all of it, as they said it was critical work. Leaving the shop, the vehicle had some noise that I had not expected, as I asked specifically (and was charged extra) for ceramic pads. I immediately called the store manager who said to 'let it drive a hundred miles' and work out the new pads. As I don't drive very much these days, I let the car settle in for over a month and the sound was still there (metallic squeal, cyclical sound). I scheduled to take the car back into Brake Check, where they tinkered with the vehicle for 3 hours and told me they couldn't find anything wrong with it.Fast-forward to October 2011: I'm still having brake issues and tired of wasting my time and money at Brake Check. I end up at Gunn Infiniti, who immediately diagnoses the issue. My longtime service advisor Richard Terazas tells me:- Brake Check is using sub-par rotors that are not OEM standard, as they were far too rusted over and warped to be safe.- The 'ceramic' pads used were not anywhere near OEM quality and caused vibration.- None of the equipment installed on my vehicle was lubricated- The dust jackets on my calipers were improperly re-installed, leaving the caliper exposed.- My brake fluid was very low and dirty. Brake Check never flushed or filled it when they did service.- Tires not rotated at all, as they were already showing minor cupping from lack of rotation.I've since been in touch with their corporate offices, but have gotten a total run-around. Once Brake Check confirmed with Gunn that their work was downright dangerously done, they stopped calling me back and have been silent. It's obvious I'm dealing with a company who doesn't take the customer into account and I'd go as far as to say they're practicing knowingly fraudulent behavior. |
