Blocknews.net Company takes money, promises usenet service, does not deliver usenet service Alfred, Maine |

On August 2nd, 2011 I contracted this company Blocknews.net to host me on their supposed webservers for NNTP Usenet postings to newsgroups. They charged me $2.75 for a block of GBs. All well and good...so far. A day later I notice my posts are not uploading. I email them on their standard form and they request I switch to the European server. I refuse because I know I will have to rebuild my book once this is done. Then after more fails to upload I open a new support ticket and they ask me what the problem is? I tell them the same thing; my posts are not uploading to the newsgroups. They soon email back that they are fixing their equipment and ask me to be patient. I tell them fine, I am patient and I can wait for them to repair whatever they need to repair. After another day of waiting, I open a new support ticket. This time they tell me, "oh, we didn't notice but your posting privileges have been suspended" due to some ambivilant term as "spamming." I'm in shock. I've been online for more than twelve years and have yet to spam anyone about anything. So they send me their perception of "spam" which turns out to be a song parody I wrote about the Beatles Magical Mystery Tour song. I tell them fine. If you can't handle something as benign as this then please just refund my $2.75 block purchase price and we'll go our own separate merry ways. I then get a notice from Blocknews.net saying that if I report them to anyone they're going to charge $200.00 to my debit card as their "cleanup fee." What kind of madness is this? If they refuse to do something so simple as to refund $2.75 to a irate customer after only a day or so of non-service what else are these people capable of? Now on top of this I think they may have blacklisted me from joining up with any other newsgroup provider. If you're going to contract a newsgroup server, make sure they're not as thin-skinned as Blocknews is. Plus you see a cavalcade of other problems they can cause you. I also have had to close my bank account and open a new one due to their threat of withdrawing an unauthorized $200.00 out of it. |
