Black Bull Towing Outrageous Fees Charged to Visitors of Apartment Residents Who Wish to Reclaim Their Vehicles! Fort Worth, Texas |

I arrived in the early morning hours to visit a family at the Spanish Hacienda Apartments. Most everyone was already asleep, so I slept for a few hours too. I was probably at my friend's apartment for about 4 or 5 hours before I decided to use my car again. Only, it was gone. After notifying FWPD and explaining the situation to them, I was informed by the officer that my car had been towed at 6am. FWPD gave me Black Bull Towing's name and phone number so that I could inquire about the whereabouts of my vehicle. I contacted 'the dispatcher' at Black Bull Towing. She informed me that I would have to pay $293.30 to recover my vehicle, which, according to other documents provided to me by Black Bull, had only been stored for about half an hour! The amount of the towing charge is ridiculous. I have a family to take care of but that chunk of money kept us from being able to pay the things we have to pay for the month. My question is, why would a business want to use a company like Black Bull Towing to anger its residents and potential residents~other community members? Businesses, especially apartment complexes, should be in the business of making people feel welcome instead of ruining their Thanksgiving holiday with some trumped up, inflated charges in order to line their own pockets. I took cash to the seediest looking place I've ever seen in order to get my vehicle back. Someone spoke to me from behind about 8 inches of bullet proof glass that was tinted so darkly I could not even see a shadow of a person on the other side. They had me slide the cash through a small slit at the bottom of the tinted glass and handed over receipts. Then they instructed me to walk to the storage in the back and get my car. They electronically opened the gate for me to leave with my vehicle, never having to show their faces to the person who helped them earn their money for the day! Could it be shame that keeps them hidden behind all that tint and bullet proof glass? Or is it fear? Fear that someone will confront them about being the crooks that they are? |
