Birthday Mania [email protected] Child's 1st Birthday ruined! Internet |
13th of May, 2011 by User537342 |
My beautiful Grandson was turning one year old and his entire family wanted him to have a wonderful party. I live in the Pacific NW and he lives 2000 miles away me. I was not able to be with him on his birthday so I contacted Birthday Mania.com to help me design his party supplies. This included "supposed" personalized items like a music cd and banner. I placed my order via their website after reviewing their delivery dates per the shipping method I selected. According to the dates they put on the site, my order would have been there three days prior to the planned party date. I then called Birthday Mania to confirm what they stated on their website in regards to the delivery date and was assured my package would arrive per the dates shown on their website. I was specifically told by a representative, named Renee, that the order was going to be shipped the same day we were speaking. Furthermore, I informed Renee that the package was not to be shipped via FedEx as FedEx had recently lost a package I had sent to my Grandson. She, once again, assured me the package would go via the US Postal Service not FedEx. Later in the day, I received a call from Renee at Birthday Mania advising me I would need to pay an additional $30.00 in order to receive expedited shipping so the package would make it in time for the party. This was after she had a conversation stating the same thing to the person who was receiving the package...expedited shipping. The party was scheduled for May 14th, eight days after this conversation with Birthday Mania. I authorized the additional $30.00 charge and was once again assured that the package would arrive in three business days which would have been Weds., May 11, 2011. On the fourth business day I called Birthday Mania as the package had not arrived and the only information given to me to track the package was their website/phone number. I was told by Deborah at Birthday Mania that the package was scheduled to be delivered on Friday May 13, 2011 and the $30.00 additional charge I incurred was only to ship the package via USPS instead of FedEx. I advised her I was told the $30.00 charge was for expedited shipping in order to be certain of timely delivery. She merely stated I was misinformed and the package would be delivered the next day. There was no delivery on Friday May 13, 2011 and I contacted Renee at Birthday Mania again. The explanation I was given was that the order did not get scheduled for shipment until Monday May 09, 2011 as Birthday Mania had a mechanical problem with their equipment that was producing the personalized banner made for my Grandson who lives 2000 miles away from me. Renee at Birthday Mania advised me to have the person receiving the package contact their Post Office and have them search again for the item. I asked if Birthday Mania could send more items via overnight mail if the package was not at the Post Office. Renee told me yes they could. The Post Office did search their facility and there was no package on site. When I called back to Birthday Mania I asked to talk to a supervisor. A woman named Deborah advised me she was the supervisor and asked me to explain my situation to her. I was in tears and devastated that my Grandson was going to have his first birthday party without any decorations or the personalized items I sent to him. I told Deborah what was happening and she put me on hold to speak with her supervisor. The only solution to this horrible experience that Birthday Mania offered to me was to refuse the shipment when, and if, it finally arrived. They would refund my money upon return of the package. The refund was only for the products, not the extra $30.00 shipping charge incurred. I was told that their employee, once again, misinformed me. Birthday Mania could not send anything via overnight shipping so my Grandson could have the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse themed party that I paid over $100.00 for him to have. I did not even receive an apology for their complete lack of customer service. The Supervisor that "so graciously" was going to allow me to have the package returned to Birthday Mania without incurring further shipping charges did not even get on the phone to speak with me personally. I have never had such a horrible buying experience in my life. The package arrived one hour before the party was to start. I was charged $19.99 for a Personalized Banner. The banner was nothing but a long sheet of paper with colored wording on it. I was not lamanated or produced with any kind of quality that Birthday Mania represents on their website. The lasting impression and opinion I have of Birthday Mania staff is that they have no integrity and take no pride in their business. It appears to me that their employees along with the supervisors are ignorant and have had no training in true customer service. Furthermore, the quality and workmanship, in my opinion, is absolute junk. |
