Best Buy Black Tie Service This service does not even deserve the word |

I purchased the "Black Tie" service at Best Buy when I bought my computer. The cost was almost $300. I have stayed at resorts with Black Tie Service. Black Tie service denotes attention to your needs, responsive and very timely. Sometimes it even involves anticipation of your needs. In my opinion, calling Best Buy's service "Black Tie" is false advertising. It does not come anywhere near that description. My college daughters have Mac's and when they have needed service Apple sent a box for shipment to our home, then we shipped the computer which was returned in like new condition within a week. In my opinion, the above description is close to "Black Tie" service. Best Buy "Black Tie" service, on the other hand told me it would take at least 3 weeks to fix the broken "B" key on my computer. When I expressed disappointment and asked if they could at least order the part before I handed over my computer (which I use to run my business) they said they could not do that. I delayed nine months getting the repair done because I could not be without the computer for that long and finally took it in when I was going to be on vaction for a while. The "estimated return date" was 9/25 which was 17 days after they had possession of the computer. Today is 9/26. I had not heard from them so I called. After being on hold for 10 minutes someone came back and said it would be another week as they were waiting for a part. I had inquired about 'loaner' computers and was told they did not offer them. This is something that they might consider. At least if they want the computer for a month they offer you a temporary replacement. They had sent me an Email about 10 days ago giving an estimate of 9/25 but no follow-up with the further delay was sent to me. In my opinion this is not service at all. To top it off, when I took the computer to them they tried to get me to pay them $100 to back it up before they shipped it because they could not assure me that data would not be lost while it was in their hands. The designation "Black Tie" was the reason I paid for this "service". In my opinion this is false advertising because it is not 'black tie' service. It is not even close to Black Tie service. I would go so far as to say that anyone who cannot be without their computer for a month should not purchase their computer from Best Buy. Or, I have since found an online site with great reviews that charges about 1/2 what Best Buy charges for the same guarantees Best Buy offers. I have made many purchases at Best Buy, computers, phones, televisions, games, movies, etc. This experience has completely soured the them in my opinion. I believe it is false advertising to call such poor service something that connotates wonderful service. |
