I am 8 months pregnant and very excited to move to our new home. Bekins moving company quoted us a price of $1100 to move. I figured the price would go up 2 or 3 hundred dollars. When we arrived to the new house the boss of the company called the driver and told them it was going to cost $2200! That is $1100 more than what was quoted. He told the drivers not to give me my furniture til the balance was paid in full. On the contract it stated that if the increase in price exceeds the original quote by 25%, the remaining balnce is to be paid in 15 days. When my husband spoke to the boss, he wouldn't honor the contract And demanded the money. Where did they come up with charging us an extra $1100?! We told him we didn't have the money on us. We also stated we tipped the drivers. He told us they don't deserve Any tip and he said he wouldn't pay them either. So after an hour and a half of arguing with him, he finally bargained with us to pay $500 not $1100 extra. But he still could not explain why he would not honor that small print on the contract. Basically, they give you a very low bAll estimate to get your business and try very hard to get you to charge it so they can't argue with you about price, since we were paying cash it turned into a very big problem for them. I've dealt with other moving companies before and never had a problem. They are huge liars and terrible businessmen. Beware of bekins...
