Bank of America Bank of America stole money from me and refused to give it back. Lake Arrowhead, California |

This is my last hope of trying to get my money back. I had closed my retail business and sold off my merchandise to another merchant in the shopping area I worked. She paid me $4500.00 cash for the merchandise. I added to it an additional $500.00 cash from a different merchant, and on Dec. 5 2009 I made the deposit of $5000.00 into Bank of America in Lake Arrowhead, Ca. I was given a very ink faded receipt and left...the receipt later being tossed by mistake because I couldn't read it anyway and daily regret this grave error. We had a predicted heavy snow on the 7th of Dec, and that was why it was important for me to have money in the bank on the 5th to cover my bills, as I knew I'd be snowed in for a while. It wasn't until the Jan statement I noticed the money never made it into my account, which I couldn't believe as I've never had a problem with BofA in all the years I've been banking with them, that I knew of. I approached the bank's manager, Greg H. about it. He told me he was newly hired and that the majority of the staff had been let go in Dec. including the manager, and he could do nothing for me without the receipt. I asked him if he would go through the deposits for that day and he said no....the money was taken down the hill and they handle it separate there. He said he would look into it. After not hearing from Greg, I called a week later and he said they had no record of a $5000.00 deposit. I said there must be some way to see if a $5000.00 deposit was taken in that day, after all it's a small town and few people make deposits like that. He said he looked into it and his records showed no $5000.00 deposit had been made that day. I even asked him if I could review the bank video for Dec. 5th and that would prove I was in there. He told me the camera was on a loop, only kept 24 hours. He treated me like I was making up the story to steal money from him. I told him, "the fact that all the staff was fired for incompetence should tell you maybe I am telling the truth". He told me I had no evidence they were fired for incompetence. I later came to learn most almost everyone up has had serious issues with this bank with either missing money....or money suddenly showing up in their accounts. I called two numbers Greg gave me to talk to and each spent a matter of 20 seconds on their computer telling me, "our records don't show that money going into your account". Greg has never followed up or called me with any concern on this matter. I have learned the valuable lesson about retaining all receipts, but this is insane that they can steal money this way and I have no recourse. They have since gotten in a machine you swipe your BofA card to make a deposit to make sure it goes into the right account....but a little too late for me. If someone can give me any advice I would appreciate it. |
