Banfield Pet Hospital Negligence, Won't return phone calls, Rude , Internet |
15th of Jan, 2011 by User239323 |
After adopting a dog who was emaciated, I took her to Banfield two days later to make sure there wasn't anything wrong with her. The date was Sunday, January 9th, 2011. I chose to have a parasite test done on her - $37.36. I had a coupon for a pet visit which waived the normal $40 it would have cost me for the vet to see her. I was assured by both the vet and the vet tech that I would be contacted in 1 or 2 days with the result. After I had not received a phone call from them by Thursday, I called them to find out why I hadn't heard anything. The woman I spoke to was apologetic, but told me there was no vet available to speak with me and that someone would be contacting me immediately. Days passed and still I heard nothing. Again, I called Banfield one week after the initial visit and after a long hold, I was told my pet had the parasite Giardia. I was informed that not only is it contagious to other dogs, it is also contagious to humans as well. What is most upsetting is that I have been displaying symptoms of the parasite since around Thursday, 2 days after they said they were going to call me with the results. I am 33 weeks pregnant and I am worried for my baby. After hearing the news, my fiance called and expressed his displeasure with them and was treated very rudely. I chose to go to a different Banfield to get the prescription I needed for my dog since we were extremely displeased with the service we received from that location. Upon arriving at the second Banfield, we were told by the woman at the desk that she was friends with the employees at the Bethany Home Location and proceeded to treat us as poorly as they did. I bought the medication anyway($22.80), for fear that not doing so would hurt my pet. The only reason the parasite has spread to me is because of their negligence in not informing me in a timely matter. They had no intention of calling me with the results; if I had not initiated contact with them, I would have never known. Now I am pregnant with Giardia, thanks to Banfield.
