I arranged over the phone for storage on a piece of carpet approx 2 metres by 1.5 metres by truck height to be collected from Victoria , to be brought to Bathurst Nsw ..
Unfortunately I did my inventory over the phone because Im not a regular net user and do not check my emails as I advised both females whom took my bookinga and confirmation ..
I paid the upfront cost and on the phone also double checked that is was for approx 8 cubic square meature's I was assured by both these woman that , That was exactly what my quote was for .. Becasue I was not checking my email's I didnt realise these woman had written 2 pieces of carpet rather than what I requested complete mis-communication .. On both parties side .. On the Tuesday a contactor ( I was not told they used contractors ) called me up at 7.30pm saying they would be there at 8am the next morning to deliver it and oh yeah there is an extra cost of $732 .. I was like huh .. Why didn't backloads call me regarding this so I could organise the money or discuss the problem , the driver told me that he thought they had .. Next morning my partner called up asking about the cost to be abused . So I called back to talk to a Sam whom screamed down the phone at me told me how his staff never makes mistakes yet at the beginning of the bill the name of the person it was billed to was spelt incorrectly how does one get Foid out of thode . He proceeded to call me a stupid bitch because I didnt check my emails , I admitted I didnt ever check them and that he had just sent the adjustment through .. I said why on tghe day of delivery would you do that ? He proceeded to scream at me , then brought my sexuality into the matter asking if I was the dominate one in my relationship .. I replied pardon whats my sexuality got to do with my goods being moved , Im calling to sort this out .. I finally got him to talk and all seemed ok to call back later in the day and make a resonable offer to have my goods moved here the next day .. My partner then rang to make an offer when they reached $500 , she was ready to pay with credit card in hand to be hung up , within the 2 hours from first point of contact the price had gone up to $1260 and now we had to pay for redelivery and 2 days storage which cost $170 .. Both my partner and I were frightened on the day of delivery , the guy rocked up and said Im not going to hurt you , I explained to him what had happened and he and I went through there inventory that made no sense whatsoever , I didnt own carpets nor an arm chair plus the boxes werent even counted correctly .. He signed it and told me to ring them back about it , I am still scared .. Now they will reply to this saying I didnt check my emails which I have admitted I never do as the booking was over the phone wouldnt they realise I convey all my dealings this way ..
As for them they dont take any responcibilty for mistakes , and there only resolution is to hang up hold YOUR goods for randsom and dont even supply reciepts for goods or charges ... My belongings did arrive a few boxes smashed up ect , but Im too scared to call because of their abusive manner regarding there inventory that doesnt make sense ..
I did yell back at him because he intimidated me , I felt threatened , discriminated against and bullied into paying for a service ?? what service ?? My friend called asked for a quote on the same goods from the same place and the cost was $860 maybe because he was a male they were alittle nicer to him .... Now what does a person do to get a refund for the etxra charges , how does one report an abusive company , I will be reporting Sam to the department of discrimination as his comments re my sexuality had nothing to do with furniture removals ...
