I joined this weight loss program in early October 2010 at the Arlington, TX location. I was intrigued by the claims of rapid weight loss. I was shown before and after pictures of clients losing 40+ pounds in less than 90 days. I paid $999 for the 40 day program and that I would have to pay an additional $295 for what they called the medical event, basically a visit with the managing physician (Dr. Kirk) and blood work which occured a week later. I went back for the medical event and was told to come back in a week to pick up my Hcg and for a food review.
At that time I made a 10 day follow up visit. The night before my appointment I was called and told that my appointment had to be rescheduled because the office would be closed the next day and that I needed to call Sandy at the Burleson office the next day. I called Sandy and she told me that the Arlington office had been closed due to cutbacks (the economy is still trying to recover and at that point had no other cause to not trust what she was saying or be suspicious) and that I could choose to continue my program at either the Dallas or Burleson locations. I chose Burleson since it was actually closer for me and I made an appointment for a few days later.
In the meantime I had been sticking to the low calorie diet and daily Hcg injections and was losing and average of 0.75lbs a day. I was very happy with my sucess. At my appointment later that week I was measured and had lost a total of 17.25 inches over my body and a total of 14 pounds in 17 days. I was very happy with my success and thought things were going GREAT! I made an appointment to follow up in one week. And that's when everything started falling apart. One week later I showed up for my appointment and the office was closed. There was no sign to indicate why they were closed or when they would be back. It looked as if they had packed up their stuff and moved out.
Even the furniture was gone. There was another couple in the parking lot who had been waiting for over an hour for their appointments. I felt so sorry for them, because they had paid all this money and hadn't even seen the doctor for their medical event yet and this company just up and shut down overnight without even a call as to what happened. I started calling all the phone numbers I had to contact these people. The Burleson office number had a voicemail but no messages were ever returned and all the other main phone numbers had been disconnected. I even tried calling information to get main numbers for the other office locations and the operators couldn't find any listings for B Ki weight loss centers in any of the cities (Dallas, Tyler, Flower Mound, and Fort Worth)that claimed to have offices.
I decided I would try to get in touch with them by acting like a new client interested in the program and I completed the online information form and within 3 min someone from B Ki contacted me to join the program and I just went off in anger on this lady with all of my complaints. All she could tell me was she was sorry for my frustration and that someone from the Flower Mound location would contact me. She refused to give me any contact information for that office and to just wait for my call. ( I don't even have to tell you that call never came).
At this point, I had no other options. In the beginning of all this I had used my GE Money Care Credit card so I decided to call the credit card company and file a dispute on the payment for this program. They have taken all my information and this dispute is in process. My only hope is that the credit card company can help me recover some of my money from this scam. My next step is to file a complaint with the Texas Medical Board against Dr. Lisa Kirk (the managing physician of this medical scam). Not only has she and her so called company stolen thousands of dollars from people, she is leaving overweight and unhealthy individuals at risk of harm by not closely managing their weight loss journey.
Life is full of lessons and the most important lesson I will walk away from this weight loss scam is "If it sounds to good to be true, it probably is." |
