Some months ago, one AT&T rep insisted we could save money by changing to a lesser plan on our wireless account. We are a national children's charity and use the phone for after-hours calls. Before, when we went to upgrade the iPhone we use, we had to wait 18 months for an early upgrade. On the plan we were on, that's how it would have been now. Each time, because of the demand, we were able to sell our old iPhone for more than the new one cost for those who didn't want a contract. But having to wait the extra three months will render our phone virtually worthless. For the past month Apple has been giving away the previous version of the iPhone for free with a contract. So in order to recoup some of the value of our existing phone, we have to pony up an extra $250 for a total cost of $750... for a cell phone! Oh, we could wait till next March and save the $250, but by that time, our phone will be virtually worthless, so it's a wash, but we'd be without the use of that phone for the 5 months. One enters into a long-term contract with certain expectations, one of which is that the company doesn't try and take advantage of you. Years ago when we had an unlimited talk plan when there weren't any, AT&T did everything they could do try and get us to drop it. The same with our present unlimited data plan. Now, they are trying to buy T-Mobile. Doesn't Randall Stephenson make enough?
