I had the displeasure of working at ASF International. It took me a while to catch on to what kind of sleazy company this is.
I can tell you this, they have an algorithm in their billing software which (at random) intentionally does NOT draft your monthly fees out of your bank account on your due date. I know it sounds silly. Here is the reason why they do this: They will say they attempted to draft your account when, in fact, they never touched it. In saying this, they collect a $29 "RIF" (return item fee) because of the "bad transaction". Then a few days later, they go ahead and draft your usual monthly fee. The return item fee is 100% ASF's AND they get a percentage of the monthly fee for the health club. So, every time they intentionally skip peoples' draft dates, they collect that RIF. It adds up nicely for them. I had people calling in every day saying that their account was never touched and that they had plenty of money in the account. I have had bank rep's call in on three way calls to clarify that ASF never tried to draft money on these draft days. So how could these monthly payments be rejected? Because of their software. They intentionally do not draft, say they did, collect their $29, THEN collect the monthly payment, then leave you SCREWED.
