Well, I have now heard this happen to quite a few people...so, I spoke with the general manager of the Anytime Fitness in Madison, AL, and she said she could get me a deal at $34.95/month...great deal for the gym, but I didn't want to continue it while I was in college, as I wouldn't have the time or the money for it. So, I let her know that I would be wanting to cancel it in about 8 months, and she said it was no problem. This was unusual to me because in my experience gyms always try to rip you off with the cancellation fees, but she said there were none. Well, being the absent-minded teenager I was then, I quickly signed the contract. Let me tell you where I am, to date. I am now 20 years old, and my membership (after 2 YEARS) is finally ending next month. I have flushed so much money down the drain with this messed up situation, all because the general manager lied to me, and I failed to read the contract. So, back to the meat of it. I tried canceling my membership that October, but they told me I'd have to pay the rest of the contract's worth, which was something like $850...well, being a fresh-out-of-high-school teenager, I definitely did not have that kind of money, so I called their third-party billing company. Basically, between the two companies (Anytime Fitness and ABC Financial), they had me running around in circles, trying to cancel my contract. I suggest if you sign up for this gym, that you read the contract THOROUGHLY and don't believe a word out of those scumbags' mouths.
