Beware of Amy and Justin McElwin in Fairland, In. They are dishonest and will purposefully lie to you and sell you an unsound horse. We have proof that they buted a horse they had for sale when we came to look at it to make it go sound. Once we bought it and brought it back to our place it was dead lame with an injury they ADMITED after the sale that the horse suffered a year and a half ago. There was no mention of the injury prior to the sale. Their email address is amcelwain325 at yahoo dot com We asked them if the horse had suffered any injuries, they said no. When I emailed them to tell them about the lameness they replied and I quote "We had no idea anything was wrong w his leg. We wouldve never sold him. As you should've noticed, my dad and I both are very caring ppl, like my dad said he would rather give u a horse than u get hurt on one. I surely wouldn't have posted a pic of his leg if i knew something was wrong. He had his feet done not too long ago and vet said was perfect shape then. I honestly don't know what happened, apparently he got into something or hurt it. We will refund ur money and pick up horse. We are not dishonest ppl and would never do that sort or thing. The whole reason we are selling them is bc my dad is too old to be taking care of them, and we wanted to find good homes for them. My husband is working tomoro, sat and sun, I will have him pick him up and refund ASAP. Thank you for your understanding. Amy"
When I said that was fine, they could pick the horse up asap they wrote back that the horse was sold as is and they will not refund the money. This is a quote from them "I just talked to my dad about the gelding and he said that he has had that swelling in his leg for a year and he called the vet and the vet said he was fine, he must've gotten kicked or hurt somehow and it wouldn't bother him and there was nothing you could do about it." Notice how the entire story changes and all of a sudden they DID know about the injury, even claim to have the vet out to look at it. Also they claimed the horse had a current negative coggins and shot records but upon delivery they refused to produce the paperwork for the coggins and shots. Since I have a statement from them saying they would refund the money I am taking them to court. Shame on ruthless horse traders like this who will lie to make a buck then take your money and run! These people are the lowest of the low! Do not buy a horse from them! They ought to have animal control called on them for the lack of care their horses receive.
Also, we bought a mare and filly from them and paid them to deliver them. When my mare arrive she was COVERED IN BLOOD with multiple wounds all over her body. And the filly was scared to death of people. Who knows what these traders do to their animals! Beware of them at all costs!
Below are photos of what these thieves did to my poor mare and also pictures of the swelling in the gelding's back leg.
