Americom One Source Telecom Company using Verizon to Misrepresent Themselves with Workers and Clients Norcross, Georgia |

I was hired by this company very briefly. Immediately, I should have known I wasn't in a professional environment as, my interviewed was conducted in less than 5 minutes. The interviewer, Dave Borsa, didn't bother to look at my resume and told me I was hired immediately. No paperwork, no talk about compensation other than "everyone is paid the same $10 hourly until we decide you are out of training." To be brief, this company is rife with unsavory business practices and impropriety. From the sexual harassment to the condescending atmosphere. This company claims to be an authorized agent of Verizon, but I am sure Verizon would backtrack that relationship if they were aware of lack of integrity and ethics being handled "on their behalf" by this unscrupulous company. They have another office in Florida and the Georgia office is often encouraged to compete with the numbers of the Florida office. Even if this means deceiving or misrepresenting Verizon's business. I was told outright by a supervisor to "let the customer believe a lie" and if "that is what he wanted to believe" regarding a misleading quote I sent out "that that was HIS fault, not ours." Workers on the business side of the house are encouraged to lie to customers in order to meet the objectives of the draw compensation structure; which boils down to making three sales a week so that you don't owe on the draw. When a savvy, experience salesperson runs the numbers on the "supposed rate-lowering quotes" it is apparent that customers in MOST of the cases are not saving money, and in fact, their current business bill will be significantly raised. Yet the push of Americom to sell Verizon's FIOS product continues, along with false promises of gift cards to customers. What is worse is that there is no formal training program or guide on the product. But rather, you are encouraged to ear hustle and learn from each other. You are instructed to NOT make one cardinal sin, and that is the use of the word "behalf". To their credit, they do not want employees to claim to be Verizon, but state that you are working "on behalf" of Verizon. However, any other misrepresentation of the company's products are par for the course. All the while, the owner of the company and his immediate wingman, Dave Borsa, sit in the middle of the salesfloor spouting out vitrolic and condescending remarks about salespeople. How's that for encouragement? When they are not taunting the salespeople with threats about physical harm to be employed "if you don't get on the dialer" then Dave, or Jimmy (the owner) are telling some inappropriate sexual joke. Also I never heard the word "f&*k or mf" as much in a subway in New York as I did daily by supervisors at this establishment. I was a top salesperson in this organization until I was told to lie to a customer directly by a supervisor, my departure was impending however, because they do not pay as promised. The turnover rate is high here because they intentionally hire on as many people as possible to gather leads for the small number of top salespeople (who are only qualified to get commissions). As a lead gatherer, you will be paid $5 for every lead you pass to a qualified top salesperson that they close. If they are lucky to close the sale, they will see their commission based upon a convoluted payout scale. Moreover, this place preys on people desperate for work in an economy such as this. There are more felons working here than the prison work-yard in Fulton County Prison; there are span of crimes ranging from DUI with Injury (the supervisor) to forgery of checks and illegal prescription drugs... |
