American Van Lines
American Van Lines MANY DECEPTIVE from beginning to end! RUINED our re-location! Caused stress for MONTHS! Internet

AVL website is totally deceiving! They advertise as if they are the actual movers with their pictured logo trucks. The website does not allow any negative customer reviews. AVL employees are totally deceiving! AVL NEVER told us they were BROKERS! AVL baited us with their low "competitive" cost that actually turned out to be too good to be true. AFTER signing the contract, the cost automatically increased, although NO truck weight. AVL gave us a CONFIRMED moving date via email and had us believe an AVL tractor-trailer would pick up/transport. On "moving" day, AVL had sub-contracted a small u-haul truck that could not take, and did NOT take our items. For SIX agonizing hours, we BEGGED Marie, Ed, Leon, and Customer Service to send another truck. They all REFUSED, saying there was NOTHING they could do! Our home was up for sale and everything had to be cleared out before we departed. And we also had scheduled carpet layers for after the day we left, plus a showing was schedulted the following Monday. BUT having NO choice due to VERY demanding travel plans for the next early a.m., --which AVL was VERY well aware of-- we had to leave everything behind as is. We had NO idea what to do, or what was going to happen. AVL left us in the most terrible mess! Eventually AVL called us at our new home to tell us they had another sub-contracted mover. AVL KNEW there would be no one at our former residence to supervise the move. Tightly secured boxes were opened, items missing, broken, and some items were totally abandoned! AND no one that we knew signed the release form to take our items across state lines! AVL took NO responsibility for ANYthing! And we had to pay the sub-contractors MORE money! A move that was supposed to cost us $1800, turned out to cost over $4,865. AVL fabricates about adequately re-imbursing for losses, damages, etc. AVL has their contract worded in such a way that suing them is practically impossible. Also, an AVL Sales Rep told us internet complaints about AVL are submitted by other companies. NOT TRUE! And the problems / stress AVL caused us lasted for months due to a ripple effect of issues that surfaced from their irresponsibility! If you fall for their bait, you know where the complaint site is.
