American Van Lines AVL Deceptive Business Practices; Moving Scams; Unreliable Customer Service Internet |
19th of May, 2011 by User966435 |
I was promised that my delivery would arrive between May 26 and June 2, before I ever agreed to sign a contract with this company. After my things were picked up by the movers, I was told they could only be delivered on May 25 (before I was allowed to move into my apartment) or on June 5 - 8 (after the agreed upon delivery window). After spending an entire afternoon (not to mention my last afternoon with my parents and family for a long time, as I'm moving across the country) going back and forth with both 3 different American Van Lines representatives and the representative from the local contracted moving company, I was essentially told over and over again there was nothing they could do. It was not until 7:30 p.m. that night that I finally was able to speak with a supervisor, who continued to tell me there was nothing they could do and despite my best alternative suggestions, refused to help. I will now have to sleep on the floor for over a week, have no pots or pans to cook with (thus paying for meals), no shower curtain (will have to buy a new one, added expense, same for towels) and cannot set up my home office as intended (lost wages). For all of this drastic inconvenience, I was offered a measley $30/day. That won't even cover a day's worth of food for two people (mind you, we'd have to eat out, as we have nothing to cook with). This company is unacceptable, unhelpful, deceptive and I cannot stress enough never to book a move with American Van Lines. They are liars and thieves. |

Guess you should have looked them up before you contracted with them I guess it was all about price. Yo get what you pay for and this is normal operation for this company and all associated with it. Other companies comepensate around 100+ per day for being late.
You get what you pay for. We all know the scam wel. |

I truly emphatize with you. We found out the VERY HARD way that AVL is NOTHING more than smooth-talkin' BROKERS...who were NOT CONCERNED about anything more than getting our deposit. Despite AVL giving us a CONFIRMED pick up date by an "AVL tractor-trailer, " UNKNOWN to us, AVL SUB-contracted a small u-haul mover...who did NOT pick up our entire household of items! AVL kept telling us there was NOTHING they could do!!! BRIEFLY, our AVL "transport" quote began at $1, 800, then over $2, 000...& ended up being $4, 865. AMERICAN VAN LINES caused us to have the WORST STRESS-FILLED NIGHTMARE for MONTHS, more than anyone could imagine!!! |
