All Time Clock
All Time Clock Service William Crescenzo Didn't repair alarm clock correctly or promptly Kansas City, Missouri
13th of Jun, 2011 by User517370
I took an
alarm clock to this person on 6-2-10 to get repaired, gave $60 deposit, &
on 6-8-11, no repairs, & clock not put back together as requested. On 6-2-10, I
took a 1950 Ingraham alarm clock that my grandpa owned to All Time Clock
Service to be repaired, as I had purchased a similar model from eBay to replace
the 'guts' of my grandpa's clock, but the replacement clock's main spring
broke. William Crescenzo looked at both
clocks, and told me that the main spring from the replacement clock was broken,
but that he could fix it with the main spring in the original clock, as it was
not broken. He quoted a bill of $120.00
to repair the original clock, and I gave him a check of $60.00 as a deposit to
get the job done, and he told me that the job would get done by 11-2010. In the
meantime, I sent Mr. Crescenzo a letter dated 6-3-10 (along with the $60.00
check) stating that after I got the original clock repaired, I wanted him to
put the replacement clock back together as I planned on selling it on eBay for
parts. I also asked him to put the three
back bolts on the back of the clock, as my original clock was missing them, and
I didn't want them lost again after I was lucky to get them from the
replacement clock. I also told him I was
looking forward for his finished work for me in 11-2010. After the
Nov. deadline, I kept calling Mr. Crescenzo once or twice a month asking him
when the clock was going to be finished, and he said that he had a lot of other
clocks ahead of mine, and thanked me for my patience in waiting. This went on until the beginning of May. On 6-2-10, I
called Mr. Crescenzo again, and he told me he had bad news in that there were
more problems with the clock than was anticipated, and if I wanted him to
repair it, it would cost an extreme amount to do so (which weren't mentioned in
the initial conversation a year prior.)
I told him that I was going to pick up the clock on 6-8, and to put the
clock back together like it was when I first gave it to him, along with the
replacement clock. I also asked him if
there was any chance of getting a refund since the clock wasn't repaired as
promised, and he said no, as he had already spent four hours looking at my
clocks (even though it took WAY more time than five months for even that!) When I got
to Mr. Crescenzo's residence (where his shop is located), he proceeded to show
me what was wrong with the clock, and when I asked him if he was going to put
the clocks back together as originally
requested, he said that he wasn't, as he had already spent four hours trying to
repair them, so he put both clock with the lose parts in my original box, and I
left the residence. When I got
home, I took all of the parts out of the box, and had my dad take a picture of
them, if you can use them for evidence in this case. I also have kept the original invoice, along
with the letter I sent Mr. Crescenzo, as he left it in my box, along with the
parts. I was able to get the original
clock put back together after two hours, but the replacement I could not, as
the spring came apart, and I was unable to put it back together. This is not
how an ethical business treats it's customers!
If the man was going to take longer than five months, I put down my
telephone and e-mail contacts on the letter that I sent with the check, and not
once did he ever contact me either way!
I am out both the $60.00 for the deposit of services not rendered, plus
I am out $15.48 for the replacement clock that I purchased on eBay to get my
clock fixed, and neither clock can be repaired without extending a HUGE amount
of money into them in the future!
