On August 1, I called these people to have them diagnose and repair an ECM for one of my customers work van. What I was promissed by a guy by the name of Chriss (apparently not allowed to tell you their las name) was that as soon as they received it it would be Diagnosed repaired and shipped back within 3 days. If the computer was good I was going to be reinbursed half the money. If it was bad, They would fix it and give me a lifetime warranty.
It Seem fair at the time so I agreed and thought everything would be fine. MY MISTAKE
The first thing that went wrong was that they charged me in advanced even before me sending the computer.
Something Chriss neglected to mention was if they receive the ECM late Thursday or anytime Friday it would not be worked on until next Monday. unfortunately that was my case. I got confirmation from the post office they received it Friday. (Of course it was never going to take 3 days but SIX)
I called Tuesday and the gentleman that picked up the phone told me the ECU was ready and it was going to be shipped overnight and I would se it Wednesday morning. But when is asked the results of the "Supposed" computer diagnosis he transferred me over to Chriss. He in turn said that the computer was being updated with new software and that after the update it was going to be sent out to be tested and repaired. THAT WAS GOING TO TAKE 2 TO 3 DAYS.
Why did the other guy lie to me?
I got the computer back Saturday Installed it and NOTHING. I started second guessing myself and started checking everything over to make sure I was not the one who was wrong. So I decided to work all Saturday, Sunday, Monday on it and came back to the conclusion that the computer in fact was defective. Now is let me remind you this is August the 13. Thirteen days later and my customer was flipping out.
A curious note, The report included with my ECM stated "During VISUAL inspection it was determined that multiple components had WEAK solder connections". I just wonder how do you know by looking at the thing the connection was weak? Well it turns out its just the scam to charge for a full repair!
I needed the van to go back to work as my customer was loosing a lot of money every day the van was parked in my shop.
I decided to buy a new unit and installed it. The van started right up.
I then proceeded to start calling these people at AES modules and now none of the are willing to help in my situation. Their excuse is that I was supposed to send it back and possibly wait another week or so to see if they could fix it. If not i would have to buy a rebuilt unit from them.
I was willing even to let go the first half of my $200 and let them return what they charged me to NOT FIX my ECM. but then again nope. They promise to call me back when ever I call. That is if they pick up the phone at all. Today is August 22. And still no solution from their part. All I have gotten is attitude from Chriss and from his secretary.
If this ever changes I will let you guys know but for the mean wile, Try to find a more reputable company to avoid risking your money and waiting your time if you ever need a car computer repaired. |
