After being in Las Vegas for a few days we ran into some people who suggested that we take a trip to the Grand Canyon. We decided to look around and found several companies selling bus tours. At our final stop a tour kiosk we were offered a mini bus tour and the price was a little higher than the coach so we walked off and decided to discuss our options. When we go to our hotel we looked online and found this company called Viator who also was selling this similar tour for cheaper. We called and it sounded like the same tour. We decided to book it and we were excited. We woke up that morning early to have coffee and go wait for the mini bus. We were picked up late and were wondering what was the delay and were never given an explantion. So the day starts and the driver after an hour into the tour had not given us his name. We and the others on the tour discussed that we all felt it was strange. So one of the guests asked the driver "what is your name?" He said it was Ray. We all began to ask a few questions only to find out that he really didn't want to talk with us. We than began to talk amongst each other when we had a very scary situation happen. The driver flew off the road and scared us to death. We asked Ray if every thing was ok and he said I am fine, but Ray was not acting like it. We asked him to get out of the min bus and walk around. We tried to talk with him but he was not talking to us. We asked him if there was a place where he could get coffee or something to drink. Ray said not any where close to here. That's when my friend said How about I drive the van seeing our lives were in danger. After twenty of minutes or so Ray said he was "ok". So we got back in the van and off we went. It wasn't but 20 minutes went by we were all on edge as we wanted to get back safe, he Slammed on the brakes out of nowhere and we flew off the road again. That's when the driver and one of the passengers started arguing over whether he had been drinking or if he had been on some drugs. He still would not talk that much and we asked him to pull over again. Ray said Boulder City is close so we could get a break and see if the company could send another driver. We felt Ray was not capable of doing this job. I have never felt so scared in my life and I am not speaking for myself but for the others on this tour. You hear about accidents with tour buses and you think this would never happen. I wanted to take the time to inform others about how unsafe this trip was and to let others know to STAY AWAY FROM Adventures Southwest. We just wanted off this minibus as our lives were in danger. Who knows what that drivers problem was but it was the most dangerous trip I have been on. I asked for a refund through Viator and to this day we have not gotten a response from the tour provider. I wrote a bad review on Viator about this tour provider but they removed it. I would stay away from Viator and this mini bus van day trip to the Grand Canyon. We are sharing this story to help educate others about this scam! |
